Trade Deadline BONANZA 2014

Cowen is going to come into next year, just hammer guys every night, play sound defensively, and is gonna shut allll the haters up. He did that once in his career, he will do it again.

We'll see. Might be too early to give up on him and I concede that point but IMO there are a ton of red flags and the biggest is hockey sense which can't really be taught. If his upside at best is a Coburn (which I think it is) trading him for an upgrade (Like Ehrhoff or Edler) isn't the worst idea in the world.

Ehrhoff is terrible. Edler is an upgrade but I find it hilarious that the people who trash Cowen as if he's Hitler think he's gonna command a guy like Edler through trade.

Cowen for Meyers? Both could use a change of scenery. T. Murray was singing Cowen's praises when he signed the extension. His actual salary over the last 5 years of that contract is $4.1M.

Twitter is the same as the other idiot-filled message boards. You just have to tune out the vocal minority of idiots. There was a time when people were calling for Alfie's head, and then they went on to worship him. For a lot of people, sports is all about "what have you done for me lately". People forget that a guy like Cowen is still extremely young, missed camp, and hardly played last year.

I'm ripping on him for his on ice play and the fact he sat out for a contract and missed camp... then these results. Would you deem that unfair?

Not to mention the suspensions and injury history.

Cowen doesn't have the hockey sense and that's my biggest issue for sure. He dominated in Jrs because he was just bigger and faster then everyone. In the NHL not so much and you need to have a brain. Cowen hasn't clued in yet for sure.
