But the question is, NEELY, where do you come out on the Anderson debate?

What Karlsson did was not a decision you make without someone calling for a reverse.  Sometimes you have to trust what your teammates are telling you are there.  That's one of the first things you learn as a D man when you start playing contact.  "Reverse" is a standard play that is based off your partner or goaltender telling you it's safe to bank the puck off the boards to another team mate when you have a forechecker on you to avoid being hit or turning it over. Usually a simple play and you turn and breakout.

Karlsson looks like an absolute moron there but if it was called for there then it's absolutely not his fault.

Phillips?  No clue wtf he was doing there nor Anderson on the breakaway.

The other option there is the goaltender or partner screaming "wheel" and that obviously wasn't relayed based on what happened.

I think you give Lehner a shot for a game or two, but they obviously want Anderson to get into a groove again.

They can go with Lehner until he stumbles (and by that I mean more than a single game); there is no guarantee, but there is a very good chance Lehner will get them into the playoffs.

On the other hand, they need to deal Anderson in the off-season, so they need him to get back into his groove. Right now they are walking a bit of a tightrope.

I guess the third option is to keep Anderson next year as the backup. With some hand-picked starts they could still drive his trade value up and deal him at or before the deadline next season. Given how he's played this year, you may get a better deal for him as a rental next year.

My guess is anderson screamed wheel or something along those lines and karlsson misunderstood. Definitely looked like anderson was signalling or pointing at something before karlsson made that pass.

Lehner likely gets the tampa or carolina game....Pmac will go back to anderson who's beat the caps twice this season.

Karlsson can speak English, lol. Other part of that goal was the fact Anderson let it in from basically an impossible angle. Either way Karlsson was told something by someone in terms of where to go with that puck, no question. Karlsson is the one that made the play and it's on him and to his credit he didn't throw anyone under the bus either when asked. That said someone was not paying attention.

You can still misunderstand someone if they speak english. Who knows what the hell happened. To me anderson clearly points at something then karlsson makes that pass and also catches anderson off guard on that shot. Based on karlsson's response, someone clearly said something to him that caused him to make that pass.

Maybe anderson yelled 'behind you' and karlsson thought it was a team mate. Bah whatever....we'll never get to the bottom of this.

Could have been pointing to his partner and said "reverse". Could have said "man on". Either way there was serious miscommunication there and Anderson was not ready for that shot from a really poor angle. Anderson hasn't been ready for a lot of shots this year.
