They got points in 8 straight before today. Every single team in the league will not play good every single game. I don't see how we are inconsistent right now. One off game.

We are only inconsistent if you expect perfection

What's also frustrating is 8 straight games with points and we're not in a playoff spot. Shows you how hard it is to make up ground.

These two games at home were like night and day compared to the 7 before as far as Andy's concerned. The whole team looked asleep today.

Maybe it was the 2pm game. That seems to be our Kryptonite...

I never expect perfection, just effort.

Just gotta be ready next game. We were due to lose, but we can't afford to slip more.

Do you honestly think they lacked effort today?

Bad game, oh well, they happen. One loss and people are ready to jump off a cliff, haha... oh man.

Only thing I do not like and it hasn't changed all year is Anderson's 3 or more goal game. Yesterday wasn't his fault by any stretch but it's still ANOTHER 3 goals or more the Sens have to score to even grab a point.

Not I. I thought they skated well but passes just weren't clicking. They worked hard enough to hang on to the puck but weren't generating offense due to errant passes and missed or ill-timed shots.

Also just read Anderson told Karlsson where to go with the puck yesterday... man that's an awful gaff. He sees everything in front of him and he pulls that out of his hat, unacceptable. Way too mentally unstable as a goaltender to be a consistent #1.

Edmonton's future keeper right there.

They certainly didn't exhibit the kind of effort we saw two nights earlier. It's been like that for most of the 2PM games. But that's just a reason, it's not an excuse. Rangers had the same 2PM puck drop.

Is Bobby Ryan trying to prove Burke right? He's doing a fantastic job. St. Louis has more goals than games played since the snub; Ryan, not so much. He needs a kick start. Where is this alleged chemistry between Spezza and Stone? What has Michalek done recently to warrant being on the second line? How about we try Ryan in one of those spots?

16-7-9
14-19-6
89-93-61

I don't think Stone is fast enough for the top line and even though Michalek hasn't done much, it's not so much a promotion as it is a best-fit. He can still skate pretty well (certainly better than at the start of the season).

Another possibility is moving Zibanejad to that top-line right wing spot and calling Pageau or DaCosta up as the third line center.

16-7-93
14-19-6
89-44/24-61

And if that third line is a bit too small, drop Pageau/DaCosta to the 4th line and move Smith up to the third.

This was, arguably, their most important game of the season. A regulation win and they would have been in a playoff spot. And they lay an egg.

This wasn't *just* another game. And it's not the first time this has happened. Remember all those losses after a win against a big opponent? Very similar. For some reason, they can't get up for those games. And, guess what, in the post season *all* games are like that.

Haha prob not but at the end of the day Anderson can't be trusted to be consistent, yah he will put on a performance and play a game that makes you wonder if he will ever let another goal in but then he will have a game where you wonder why he is even in the NHL. Guy just loses it sometimes and doesn't know how to regain his composure.

Over 30 games to go, lol this game isn't and won't be the one that cost them a playoff spot. They played a poor game, oh well, move on. Does it matter if they lost 2-1 in the last second of the game or 9-0? End result is the same. Sometimes it's good to lay an egg.

Meh. They had a great start with tons of possession and then faded and disappeared and basically just rolled over.

Not sure if it was reacting to Anderson's play or what.

We'll see next game.

Are you honestly not disappointed in their play then?

And I'm certainly not jumping off any cliff, let's save that for the HBF kids.

Didn't say that this is *the* game.  But you cannot argue it was not a hugely important one, potentially, at least.  You said so yourself:

They have needed a save a few games in a row now and Anderson hasn't given them one and that's basically the story the whole year. If Anderson plays as an average starter this year they are probably fighting for the division and are locked into a playoff spot. He keeps letting his team down and it has to stop.

Was huge, it's over and the Sens are right in the thick of it still. Saturdays game will not be the reason they missed out and when you play like the Sens played yesterday there is no other option than to come out and play a much more responsible and enthusiastic game next time out. Better than another loss like on Thursday night. Only thing that as been fairly consistent this year is the Sens needing at least 4 goals to win.

Saying their performance in a big game was poor is certainly not jumping off a cliff. I said if they won (regulation) they'd be in a playoff spot, not that if they lost they'd be be gone. Big difference.

Previous game, also huge. Win in regulation and not only are you (potentially) in a playoff spot (at the time had no idea how Rags/Wings and Caps games would turn out) but even more importantly only 5 points back of the Habs. Who wouldn't prefer a top-six spot instead of one of the wildcards. 5 points back is certainly doable. And then Andy lays a huge egg. The team bailed him out big time, yet also failed him with two breakaways to Plekanec -- it's not like it's any secret this guy likes stepping up for a breakaway pass. But, in any case, after that bad game you'd think Andy would have a better effort --that tying goal, did he even move off the far post? Did his skate get caught? Because it looked like he just kept his right skate on the far post and then waved the trapper at the shot. There was plenty of time to slide across.

For the millionth time this season we are asking -- is it finally Lehner time?
