2nd and 3rd periods Anderson is usually lights out but he's letting in way too many goals early on in games and it's not something that can be debated.
I think the issue is a team-wide slow start...not an Anderson slow start.  Too many quality scoring chances are being given up early by the team.
The goals on Friday and Sunday night? Good goals that went in? No. Both 5 hole goals that were easily stoppable. LA goal? Easily stoppable. Anaheim goal in Anaheim is the only one where you can say "yah, that's just a great shot".

I think Karlsson is also paid $6.5M to hustle. That SH goal we gave up yesterday was a direct result of EK not hustling back. It was brutal to watch. $6.5M. Skate hard. Always.

He's from a stand still and his acceleration is not up to par yet. Hard to blame him.

Don't buy that for a second. Maybe not 100% but look at the replay he just stops on the backcheck midway before he realizes the puck is loose and his man has beat him. has nothing to do with acceleration.

That's why I would take Phaneuf over Karlsson.

He would hustle harder if he didn't need to play 30 mins a night because our other 5 defensemen can't create Dung offensively 5 on 5.
Which comes back to my initial point, needs a mobile top 4 defenseman who can handle the puck.

Sens are also not prepared.  Two home games this weekend with opposition playing 2nd of a back to back.  To come away with 0 points is absolutely unacceptable.  That's also 3 straight home games where sens have been down 2-0 in the first period.  I'm not quick to give too much credit to the sharks and ducks....they're good teams but are the oilers a good team?  Very disappointing, they had a giant letdown and got pretty cocky I bet after that detroit victory.  Lesson learned, hopefully.....
Didn't hear me say boo on Friday night about Spezza, did you?  Other than he was ok, not his best, not his worst.

Also, I love how people say he's a DEFENSEMAN like the actual term defense dictates how that position is played.  It's not soccer.  Karlsson absolutely controlled the game in every aspect last night but sure, you want to put one of those goals on Karlsson last night do it... he doesn't play that game is probably 6 or 7 nothing, not 5-2.  Use a legit argument instead of that weak line of thinking.  He probably shouldn't rush the puck either.

Either way the way the games are going or should  I say starting, a lot of it is on Anderson.  Most teams don't have 4 games in a year where the goalie lets in the first shot of the game, Anderson has done that in a month.  Tough game to play when you start each game down a goal.
The Donkey kissing is in full effect I see Smile

That's great that he controlled the play and all but that backcheck was Cussing weak.  What's the excuse for friday night?  I didn't say much then but it's cut and dry, he's responsible for 2 straight GWGs.  And why shouldn't I mention his position?  Craig anderson is a goaltender, and when he doesn't make saves, I'm sure you'll complain about him.  Spezza/michalek are forwards and when they're not scoring, I'm sure you'll complain about them.  Karlsson is a defenceman and when he's not defending well, suddenly it's bad to complain about him. Good logic there Confused!

No denying karlsson is a dynamic offensive defenseman.  If he doesn't play the game, it's maybe the same score cuz he's just about helping the other team as much as he's helping his own team.  And yes, anderson friggin' sucks this year.  He was been atrocious to start games.  Not wired in, just like the rest of the team.  Really tough to win games when you're constantly down by 2 goals in the first period.
So Karlsson is paid 6.5 million a year to defend?   Guys who "defend" are paid basically what Chris Phillips is paid, Phillips "defends".  Defense is a team game, offense is not because only certain players have the ability to do that. Everyone on the ice has the ability to play defence because it requires very little skill and just a lot of determination and heart.  Can Karlsson be better in his own zone?  For sure, everyone can but saying he's to blame for 2 GWG, while true, it wasn't because he wasn't defending.  Karlsson gave the puck away against Anaheim so I fail to see where his lack of defense caused that goal?
Karlsson panicked and made a bad pass, or whatever that was. Hindsight being 20/20 and all, what about just protecting the puck? How can you say the backcheck where he gave up halfway is defending in any way shape or form? Anyways he's had several giveaways this season which I guess I will argue are a result of being defensively irresponsible. It's more than usual, let's just leave it at that. Maybe it's his injury or he's just trying to do waaay too much but that's not a good defence lately.

Phaneuf's job is way easier because Toronto's top 3 lines all skate like the wind and actually have more skill than the Condras, Greenings, Neils etc

No-one has mentioned the rather poor effort shabbs did on the GDT. Two words? How much are we paying him, anyway? Can't find him on capgeek.

The Gene has instructed his accountant to put shabbs under "Zamboni repairs." Which explains the broken Zamboni.

Have you guys been to a game this year at the CTC? Hilarious to see the squeegee kids come out with hoses between periods to flood the rink.

So we're all in agreement - dump Karlsson?

A semi serious comment. A single zamboni means you save one salary, give away half as many tickets/jerseys to kids riding zamboni, and have less time for stupid intermission "entertainment", which means people have more time for concessions.

Win-win-win-win.

With his albatross contract, we'll have to take a pile back in unwanted salary. Might be able to trade him for Heatley.
