Da Costa was the better in camp, worked harder in the off season, and earned the spot over Zibanejad. Proof that if you work hard and are good enough you will play. Zibanejad didn't, simple as that.
GM Hockey
Exactly. Pageau beat out Zibanejad and you can't really justify Zibanejad being up in the press box vs Da Costa who still hasn't earned a spot in the every day lineup.tim1_2 wrote:The decision isn't Da Costa over Z-Bad. I doubt it, they probably just expected more and I'd be willing to bet they got the impression he was acting like a guy who thought his roster spot was already his. Nothing to worry about, probably just want to send a message, some guys need to grow up a bit. They could have traded Zib and kept Silfverberg if he was on their Dung list.SpezDispenser wrote:They're not pleased with Zibanejad. That much is getting more clear by the minute. He better take this lesson and run with it.
So they are pleased with Zibanejad but they decided to send a player down who was on the team the majority of last season? Zibanejad dropped the ball in camp, simple as that. He lost his spot to someone who wanted it more.Hoags wrote:I doubt it, they probably just expected more and I'd be willing to bet they got the impression he was acting like a guy who thought his roster spot was already his. Although I'd be shocked if Melnyk's calculator wasn't a factor in this.

Never argue with Murray except for dressing a useless plug who literally has no skill. We don't need Kassian.SpezDispenser wrote:Well, I think we all knew that Da Costa and Pageau are the cause of this, but a lot of us thought Z-Bad would stay up with the big club and compete in a night in and night out basis with Da Costa. Also, it's pretty blunt of Murray. Usually he'd sugar coat that a little.NEELY wrote:Exactly. Pretty sure that's what SSF and I were saying.SpezDispenser wrote:Holy Dung. If you ask me right now who I'd rather have on the NHL Sens right now, it'd be Zibanejad over Da Costa because of speed, size and experience. But hey, never argue with Murray.
That is the arms race and it happens all over the NHL. Never get caught without a heavyweight or one of your prospects will get 1 punched or guys will start taking liberties with our star players. I'm not saying I agree with dressing Kassian, but I get where Murray is coming from.Ev wrote:Never argue with Murray except for dressing a useless plug who literally has no skill. Didn't mean they were pleased just that they expected more and were disappointed. I don't think he was bad but they wanted more than they got.NEELY wrote:

Murray nailed it.SpezDispenser wrote:Holy Dung. Murray told Zibanejad "you let two guys come in and take your spot."
Yeah I really see people taking liberties of the Red Wings and their young player.SpezDispenser wrote:That is the arms race and it happens all over the NHL. Why not put a big, intimidating dude in the press box and dress him when you feel there's a threat? Who in the F cares about the stupid Red Wings anymore. Damn I'm annoyed hearing the same things about them time and again. They had the best D-man of our generation - of course they're going to have success.Ev wrote:Yeah I really see people taking liberties of the Red Wings and their young player.SpezDispenser wrote:That is the arms race and it happens all over the NHL. Never caught without a heavyweight - except if you wanna go deep in the playoffs.
Because Kassian isn't even a scary guy.SpezDispenser wrote:Why not put a big, intimidating dude in the press box and dress him when you feel there's a threat? Red Wings rarely if ever have young players.Ev wrote:Yeah I really see people taking liberties of the Red Wings and their young player.SpezDispenser wrote:That is the arms race and it happens all over the NHL.
