Apparently Ian Mendes is leaving Sportsnet to join the Team 1200. This is great news for Ottawa sports radio.
GM Hockey
Team 1200 is basically 100 percent reliant on the existence of the Senators in Ottawa. We all know about the broken Zamboni and the NHLs concerns about the teams finances. Let's hope Ian can continue to provide for his family with this move.tim1_2 wrote:Apparently Ian Mendes is leaving Sportsnet to join the Team 1200. This is great news for Ottawa sports radio.

That's a step down IMO but I'm guessing he's getting paid more by the Team 1200. Mendes is also writing for the citizen.tim1_2 wrote:Apparently Ian Mendes is leaving Sportsnet to join the Team 1200. This is great news for Ottawa sports radio.
would he? i doubt it. i imagine this is because either he knew his contract was soon over with sportsnet or they were going to replace him because of something we don't know.Michallica wrote:That's a step down IMO but I'm guessing he's getting paid more by the Team 1200. Ian Mendes @ian_mendes 5h
Spezza said he would like to play in the exhibition finale on Sunday vs NYI -- but he won't jeopardize things if he doesn't feel 100%.
I have no clue. I can't see why someone would leave a gig at sportsnet where you can be seen by a national audience to do local radio only...unless they offered more money. Or maybe the travel was too much. Whatever, hopefully erin hawkseworth becomes the new sens correspondent.Flo The Action wrote:would he? i doubt it. i imagine this is because either he knew his contract was soon over with sportsnet or they were going to replace him because of something we don't know.Michallica wrote:That's a step down IMO but I'm guessing he's getting paid more by the Team 1200. He still has that gig at Today's Parent. And he got Sonia in as well.SeawaySensFan wrote:Team 1200 is basically 100 percent reliant on the existence of the Senators in Ottawa. Young kids, though, and with SNet he does a *lot* of traveling. He writes regularly for Today's Parent, although I doubt he gets a lot for that, but it's still a second paycheck.Flo The Action wrote:ouch! is this for real? it's quite the jump down from sportsnet to local radio station. one of the few sports media person i don't mind.SeawaySensFan wrote:Team 1200 is basically 100 percent reliant on the existence of the Senators in Ottawa. That's 24. Who goes when Gryba is off the IR?NEELY wrote:You can safely say the lineup to start the season will be
Ryan/Spezza/Michalek
MacArthur/Turris/Conacher
Greening/Pageau/Zibanejad
Neil/Smith/Condra
Kassian/Da Costa
Methot/Karlsson
Cowen/Weircioch
Phillips/Corvo
Boroweicki/Gryba (if Gryba is injured long term)
Anderson
Lehner
Don't see it going any other way.
From that lineup? Boro, unless they want to dump Corvo if/when Boro beats him out.wprager wrote:That's 24. Who goes when Gryba is off the IR?NEELY wrote:You can safely say the lineup to start the season will be
