Apparently Ian Mendes is leaving Sportsnet to join the Team 1200. This is great news for Ottawa sports radio.

If true, AJ and Ian will be the only good radio guys.

ouch! is this for real? it's quite the jump down from sportsnet to local radio station. one of the few sports media person i don't mind.

That's a step down IMO but I'm guessing he's getting paid more by the Team 1200. Mendes is also writing for the citizen.

would he? i doubt it. i imagine this is because either he knew his contract was soon over with sportsnet or they were going to replace him because of something we don't know.

I have no clue. I can't see why someone would leave a gig at sportsnet where you can be seen by a national audience to do local radio only...unless they offered more money. Or maybe the travel was too much. Whatever, hopefully erin hawkseworth becomes the new sens correspondent.

Young kids, though, and with SNet he does a *lot* of traveling. He writes regularly for Today's Parent, although I doubt he gets a lot for that, but it's still a second paycheck.

I just picked up Patty W with my last pick in a G/A fantasy draft. He'd better get some PPGs.

I also just made a bet that Matt Moulson would score more goals than Clarkson this season. I'm clearly dealing with a Leafs fan who can do math. They both peaked at about the same production, but MM should get 10 more games in. More if Clarky keeps getting suspensions. He'll be on a tight leash this year.
