Exactly.  Pretty sure that's what SSF and I were saying.
Well, I think we all knew that Da Costa and Pageau are the cause of this, but a lot of us thought Z-Bad would stay up with the big club and compete in a night in and night out basis with Da Costa.  Also, it's pretty blunt of Murray.  Usually he'd sugar coat that a little.

If you ask me right now who I'd rather have on the NHL Sens right now, it'd be Zibanejad over Da Costa because of speed, size and experience.  But hey, never argue with Murray.
Never argue with Murray except for dressing a useless plug who literally has no skill. We don't need Kassian.
That is the arms race and it happens all over the NHL.  Never get caught without a heavyweight or one of your prospects will get 1 punched or guys will start taking liberties with our star players.  I'm not saying I agree with dressing Kassian, but I get where Murray is coming from.
Yeah I really see people taking liberties of the Red Wings and their young player.

Never caught without a heavyweight - except if you wanna go deep in the playoffs.
Why not put a big, intimidating dude in the press box and dress him when you feel there's a threat?  Who in the F cares about the stupid Red Wings anymore.  Damn I'm annoyed hearing the same things about them time and again.  They had the best D-man of our generation - of course they're going to have success.
Because Kassian isn't even a scary guy.

It has nothing to do with the Red Wings or their success, just nobody goes after Red Wings players. And the Bruins and Blackhawks do not have a heavyweight who can't play. Hell, most teams do not have one.

Chris Neil is more than enough.

Red Wings rarely if ever have young players.

I don't know why everyone is so upset one way or another. Zibanejad lost his spot out of camp and with injuries and perhaps someone else not going so well (Da Costa/Kassian) then he's right back in Ottawa. Lesson learned for Zibanejad, message sent top to bottom by Murray and MacLean. Long term this is a good thing for everyone.

Zibanejad got outplayed and out worked at camp, take that lesson, work hard, everything is right with the world again. They didn't trade Silfverberg because they didn't highly of Zibanejad but they won't allow the kid to walk into that room like he has truely earned his spot on the team.

Yah, nice to have a little optimism about a 7th rounder who has some potential and looks like he could get a chance to play in the NHL 3, 4 years down the road from now but he has to play against some better competition before he is considered legit.

Long, long road, but his skill level seems to be very high.

I can't believe people are this upset about a 20 year old kid getting sent down to the AHL.
I for one am happy this is happening because I still see a lot of bad habits in his play, so inconsistent when it comes to physical play and lacks Pageau's poise with the puck in the offensive zone. He is not even close to where he needs and CAN be.

And it's not like I am hating on the kid, I was one of the only guys in here who thought he would become a PPG player and still think he will.

And please, DaCosta will not be sent away in the following weeks. Dude is gonna perform very well this year.
Murray sums it up: "To be true to our words when we ask players to do things and they do it, and we don't reward them, we are not the right people to give kids the opportunity they deserve"

Yeah, I'm not concerned about Z-Bad at all. Unless his attitude turns to Dung, he'll be back before the end of November. Sooner if we have injuries.

Like I mentioned before, all this is, is an organization sending a message to one individual player at the same time as sending a message to the whole organization. Hard work and effort pays off and if your comfortable you won't be much longer. People were flipping last year when Conacher was a healthy scratch "why did we even pick him up?!". People were flipping when Lehner was sent down even when he was NHL ready. People were upset a few years back when Karlsson got sent down "why did he even come over". And so on and on and on.

There isn't a player who ever played the game of hockey who's development or career has been hurt by being sent back to the AHL, not one.

Remember Filatov?

No matter what way you look at this Zibanejad thing, comparing Filatov and Zibaenajd is bad in every single way. If he's anything like Filatov then he should be traded yesterday.

LOL I'm Z's biggest fan here.

I'm comparing Filatov and Da Costa. Both were rosy until the regular season started.

I will bet Da Costa fails. Just my feeling.

The thing with Da Costa is we really can't put him in a position to succeed. I think he's a fairly one-dimensional, offensive centre. Our top two centre spots are already filled and I don't think Da Costa will be overly useful as a 3rd or 4th liner. He just seems like a guy destined to tear up the AHL, yet not have a big NHL impact. I hope I'm wrong, because he has shown flashes of being a good playmaker...I just don't think it'll be at the NHL level.

I honestly don't know how he will react and play during a full NHL schedule. Does he have more character and determination that Filatov? No idea. He is better with that puck and does have more vision though, I think everyone really likes his skill set. Everyone has said though it will take more than an NHL skill set to stick with the Sens over the course of a season and he is getting a chance to show he can. That's all it is, a chance.

He doesn't have to be Bobby Ryan or Michalek, but he needs to get out of that comfort zone that Filatov refused to get out of to be successful long term. I don't think the comparison between Da Costa and Filatov is that far off right now, I just hope it is and he will get a chance to show it.

Again, he will be a winger at the NHL level. Doesn't have the body or game to be an effective center in the top 6.

He has never played wing in the NHL or AHL so I don't see it.

He is a prototypical centre with his skating (slower, patient) and vision.

If they put him on the wing with Pageau....well...maybe.

Mike Comrie is the best comparison for Da Costa IMO and Comrie was fine on the wing. Very similar games. Learning the wing is not hard.
