Gesture typing it s built into the virtual keyboard, who knew. Doesn't work well with landscape mode because you are expected to slide along the keyboard and that is not easy when it is 6" across. Also, gesture typing the word "typing" is impossible as sliding from the t/5 key to the y/6 key is interpreted as a numeric entry and it never recovers.

Still, cool feature to play with.

Yeah, they're not the best value, but...

I realize that iN >> iA.  However the number of useful apps is a function of iN or iA, and it's not the same function.  so f(iN) is likely still > f'(iA) but the difference is nowhere near as big.

Name me five apps that you can't do without that are only available on iOS.
Actually we can all do without any apps. Ever. Air and water, not so much.

What are you going to be doing with your iPad?

Mainly just reading and web browsing. Some videos and games probably here and there.

7.9" is a good size. Not too big, not too small... makes for easier hand holding and portability as compared to a full sized iPad. I still make regular use of my 7" diagonal PlayBook.

For me, I would always want the bigger screen. It's easier to navigate the web on the bigger screen. Also, for games and videos, the extra screen space is nice. If you're going to be on-the-go with it a lot though, maybe the smaller size would be easier to lug around.

Yeah I won't really be carrying it around. I like the look of the mini and the screen is better in terms of pixel density. I'll probably just check it out in FutureShop today (not the new Mini which they won't have most likely)

Does the iPad Air's Retina Display not meet your needs?

it does. But I've always liked the Mini and told myself I would get one once the screen was improved. $100 cheaper than the iPad Air. But with the iPad Air now being light and thin, it's basically the exact same but $100 more for 2 extra inches.

That's the best deal on 2 extra inches you'll ever get.

First, I didn't think it was possible because this is a corporate BB and I thought they'd have it disabled.

Second, I had no idea what password to use when I saw it come up (I turned it on accidentally, then noticed a new network show up on my tablet). It wasn't my BB PIN, and it wasn't my regular password. But I must have set it a while back when I was playing with it.

Anyhow, 2011 was a good year.

if anyone wants the Nexus 7, or anything from shop.ca, do this:

sign up at ebates.ca. This site will give you 20% cash back at shop.ca

Buy the Nexus 7 from shop.ca. $249.99 and you get $25 off when signing up, then you can redeem these codes on shop.ca (under the redeem gift card tab in your account) for an extra $20 off:

0D30948A430
C0274D0E360

PLUS, you have to enter the code "shopebates" at checkout, which gives you another $10 off.

So to summarize, you can buy the Nexus 7 for $236.19, then you get the 20% mailed to you by ebates. So in total, you can buy the Nexus 7 for around $189.

I'd be you $100 that's not the FHD 32 GB model. I've signed up for shop.ca because of their promo where you get $25 off your first purchase, and then another $25 for something else, forget what. And I haven't used it because shop.ca's pricing is atrocious. Even when things are marked 50-70% off it's usually still not worth it.

Anyhow, the pricing on the 32 GB FHD (higher-resolution screen) is typically $280 at FS/BB and the most I've seen them off so far was $20 below that price (excluding open-box sales and refurb items). I've checked out a few "Black Friday" sales touting Nexus 7s and they are all limited quantities or the 16B non-FHD models, and so on.
