If we were going to make a play for Bogo, I doubt we would've signed Corvo. Who knows though.

I still see a Cowen for Bogo deal coming. Stars are lining up with Cowen ready for a raise.

The Kessel trade worked out brilliantly

Would do that, no question.

The only issue is that Bogo would never be a Top 2 D-man in Ottawa. I'm not sure he'd be crazy about that.

Meh, playing big mins on a 2nd pairing isn't any different and in fact may be beneficial to a bigger pay day because you are not out there against teams top players but I would assume Bogosian would turn into that perfect all around D man in Ottawa. Either way I would take Bogosian over Cowen in a heart beat.

Only problem with a Bogo/Cowen swap is that Bogo is going to make more $$$ next year, so Mr. Melnyk would need to open his pocketbook wider.

Cowen's not getting a big raise at all, he hasn't played many games on his ELC. I would think what Alzner got (1.285 for 2 years) is what will happen.

And yeah I don't think we could afford Bogo, not to mention he might not want to play in EK's shadow for all his time here. That's why we lost out on Schultz.

Can't see how Cowen's gonna get too much of a raise unless they sign him to a 7 year deal - and even then, I don't really see the point of doing that yet. 2 years, 1.5 per year is the highest I'd go, or 7 years, 3.8, but again, I see zero reason to do that right now.

I doubt they will give him a Hamonic type contract considering the injuries he has had.

Bryan Murray likes Jagr but thinks he is too expensive right now. Weird. It's almost like they have this budget that is keeping them from signing good players that would improve the team.

They have a budget. They have said this many many times. What's your point?

I believe it has been reported that the budget is keeping the Zamboni in a state of disrepair as well.

I think the point is that Melnyk's financial problems are stopping our team from improving and also probably lead to Alfie leaving.

New owner please.

You never know. Murray is not a short-sighted GM, if he thinks this is the best deal we'll get, he'll do it - but again, I agree, I can't see it happening.

Murray said he likes Jagr? Huh...didn't see him going there personally.
