That`s the issue... to get where you want to go.. the Cup... he will eventually have to bring in the talent to supplement the very good young team he has..

If he wants to make $$ off the team.. they have to make the playoffs.. I think it`s going to be harder to make the playoffs in the new divisions... Divisional points are going to be more important than ever.

Funnily enough, you have a point.  There's no room for another forward without making a transaction.

Briere - Spezza - Michalek

Zibanejad - Turris - Alfie

Silfverberg - Pageau - Greening

Conacher - Smith - Condra/Neil

Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - Boyle
Phillips - Gryba
Wiercioch

You also forgot Kassian who has 1 year left as well.

There is no way they can add Briere without trading 1 or 2 forwards.  Garrioch says he expects Greening will be signed to an extension as well.

Not true, there will always be healthy scratches.

and don't say I didn't tell you so but Alfredsson may not even be on the Sens

Alfredsson is a formality at this point.  Just a matter of when he signs, for how long.  $$$ not really an object (they'll make his salary back in goodwill and jersey/seat sales).

There will be moves.  In addition to the players already mentioned, there are rookies who will be pushing for spots as well.  Anyone going to the DC?  It starts tomorrow and on-ice practices are open to the public.

In a little less than 2 hrs if Alfie isn`t signed.. teams can contact his agent. I`m sure teams will do that. I mean there were teams calling Murray leading up to the draft asking if Karlsson and Cowen were available.

What is a team gives Alfie an incredible offer and the Sens won`t give him what he asks for? Never say never..

Since my last tweet the Sens and Alfredsson's camp have spoken. There will be more talks tomorrow. Sweden 6 hours ahead. #Sens

I tried to follow him earlier today and I believe he blocked me. Not sure why. I un-followed him a while back but it wasn't during the Unfollow-the-Sun event. I wonder what I said. Then, again, it doesn't take much with him. For a large man he has extremely thin skin.

Most of his skin has been dissolved to make way for more fat.

So what's the highest we go with Briere? $5M x 3 yrs?

Pittsburg is 700k over cap with only 6 d and 11 forwards signed. Any guesses on why they do?

Philly is over by over 3 million. This I so enjoyable. PLEASE TRRADE FOR WAYNE SIMMONDS

I think that putting Pronger on LTIR will bring them under the cap. That said, they still have a huge hole in goal...I have no idea how they plan on addressing that, but it could be via trade.

In goal?  On D too... they are awful on the blueline, just brutal. Mason would be good enough with a decent defense in front of him because the offense would make up for somethings but right now... that team is the exact same team as last year, like exactly the same except Bryzgalov isn't there to be a complete moron and distraction. W/e, one less big time player in the Sens division, I'm all for it. Division got weaker yesterday.

I think they try and trade Martin and/or Niskanen...potentially Jussi Jokinen as well.

I'm on iPhone, are you sure? Letang and Malkin don't kick in until next year. Although I guess Dupuis got an increase, Kunitz somehow stayed the same.

If they're over by 700k they must be thinking about making a move. Gotta wonder why they took jokinen when they clearly can't afford him. Although I think they made Carolina take salary but I guess that doesn't affect salary cap.

Interesting situation.

Can't trade Martin. He was their rock last year.

Pittsburgh's CapGeek page shows their Salary Payroll at just over $65M, while their "Cap Payroll" (the one that matters) is just over $60M. I guess bonuses and stuff factor in differently with the cap.

Nobody wanted Jokinen and his salary/cap hit last year, I doubt they will have better success this year. I think they'll move Orpik before they move Martin but that's just me.
