One thing's for certain. This off season there'll be some huge players available because of the cap going down. Murray will need to weigh his options and pick up a guy who can score to play the wing.

I guess Latendresse will be let go, obviously Regin will be, there'll be a space open for a Briere or someone who can put the puck in the net under some pressure. Some darn creativity needs to be added as well.

Briere isn't someone you want to add if scoring is a problem judging by his stats.

We need top-end talent, that's why going after guys like Nash, Perry made sense. Not sure who'd be available off the top of my head but I am sure they will leave doors open for players for Bingo to be able to step in (Stone, Puempel etc.) and see if they can do the job.

the way i'm hoping the season unravels right now is that we win the next three games and so do the habs. they slide hopefully into second and we into 7th.
it can be done. wsh will be hard but we did it, Boston will be an even greater challenge but nothing is impossible. maybe getting Kid k will boost morale and effort.

and yes start crashing the net more, sure we're getting shots on goals but from 20 feet without any screening. may look good on paper but not much when you look at the games.

They're not ready to though. If anything, you try to see what you can get for a big, scoring winger. They're out there, Murray just needs to find the right fit.

Slow players need not apply though apparently. Just ask Latendresse about that.

MacLean is building a team where a certain work ethic/attitude and solid 2-way play are required to stay on the roster (unless you're an established vet).

Guys like Filatov, Butler, Regin do not fit in that mold and I am guessing JOB violated PMac's expectations somewhere along the line.

Latendresse isn't very fast and he isn't really effective 2-way, he is guilty of lazy backchecking a little too often for PMac's liking.

We will probably see a few talented players who do not fit the mold of the team identity PMac is creating shipped out of town for someone who does.

I keep thinking Horton is a guy we should be looking at thru FA. maybe not the best possible 1st liner but we may not be able to find one.

There are sure to be some surprising names available, particularly with the compliance buyout as another option.

They need to stop with the cute perimeter play and shot from 20+ feet out into the goalie's chest and start crashing the net for garbage goals.

Last night the whole Matt Cooke thing went to their head too I think.

It's a really young team with very little elite players that we can count on scoring. It has to be a total team effort because there is no one to count on really.
They need to wipe the last two games from memory and start "fresh" with these last three game.

1 win should be enough... 2 would be reeeeeeeeeeeal nice.

Would rather we get in on our own as opposed to relying on someone else, but beggars can't be choosers.

Just. Get. In.

The guy that has to be better is Anderson. Since coming back his not so great games have trumped his very solid games. As Anderson goes the Sens go.

We've been riding Anderson's unsustainable save percentage all season, we're now getting the unavoidable regression to the mean. He is not THAT good, he had a .914 last year.

I wouldn't blame Anderson one bit, they need to score more than 1 goal to win a game.

He had a great big stye in his eye until after the Christmas break. Ignoring his first game back after the layoff (he was yanked) his save percentage the rest of the way was .934 in the regular season (rounded up from 93.7) and .933 in the payoffs.

Erik Karlsson returns to twitter @ErikKarlsson65

(Probably will get trolled by a bunch of bunghole that he didn't deserve the Norris Trophy)

Yeah, he's an upper echelon goalie. He just needs to get back into game shape. We all knew he'd be rusty coming back - and he has been. If we make the playoffs, all bets will be off on how he'll perform. I would say very, very well.

I would have thought they'd put him in on Saturday which is a home game and they can control who is out against, then again we're a bit desperate right now.
