A guy who I would give a serious look to if Perry isn't an option next year is Semin. Seems he wasn't the issue in Washington and has been pretty solid for Carolina. That's a guy who could be a top 5 guy in scoring any year.

His ex-teammates still slam him even after he's gone. Maybe he was A problem but not THE problem there. Muller is a better coach too.

If we can't afford Perry we can't afford Semin, we will probably trade for Hemsky and some depth D and call it a day.

Semin would be sexy with Karlsson and Spezza too... he would be a legit trigger man. wouldn't have to share the role with Ovechkin.

For 1 year it's fine at 7 mil... for 4, 5 years at 7 mil? Not sure they can do it plus the cap is going down as well and they already have Ward, Staal, Staal, and Skinner. A lot of coin and no defense.

They have 51 mil committed already to next year, Semin won't be resigning unless they trade Ruutu.
