If they get back to the playoffs they could very well have Karlsson back at that point. Only team you don't want to hit IMO is Boston, Ottawa can beat the rest. You hope they can keep up the pace so they can finish right where they are right now, 6th.

There's no way Karlsson comes back this season and I hope they stop him if he tries. You don't want him coming back at less than 100%. Wouldn't want him to decline over the years like Redden did.

Bieksa had a 90% cut, and missed 27 games (3-1/2 months). He did say that it took a year to get back to 100% but it goes to show that after 3-1/2 months the tendon is as healed as it's going to get -- there is no risk of re-injury and it's just a matter of rehabbing it and getting back in shape.

I suppose I could be on board with that.

Ahhhhh!

"The time line is four to six months," he said. "I still remember to the day, I came back in three months and 22 days, and when I first got back I was second-guessing myself. I didn't feel comfortable on the ice or in my skates. It took a good year to feel 100 per cent. Luckily, he is not going to be rushed back because he is going to be taking the summer to rehab, but it's a tough injury."

Sounds like he is not recommending coming back as soon as he did.

He also states that his was 90% cut as well... Karlsson's was not as bad and that does matter in recovery.

Bingo. As long as it is healed enough that there's no risk of re-injuring it, he is good to start. Bieksa didn't feel comfortable, but he didn't re-injure it, either. And I'd bet it still would've taken a year to get back to 100% even if he stayed off it for 6 months. The longer you are off the more time the muscles have to atrophy, and the more time there is for the tendons and ligaments to shorten from disuse.

I think the more important factor is the ramp-up rate for the rehab. Start slow and progressively build it up.

They said his season is done and they don't anticipate him playing this year, same with Cowen so I am not getting my hopes up. Late May would be the earliest if he follows Bieksa's recovery timeline.

No plugs like Konopka. We need actual physical players, not goons who have a certain role.

I like the Matt Martin idea for sure... not sure NYI would give him up though. I like Boll but Parros could be had for a song and dance.
