We'd be giving up futures but RoR is not a short term band aid. It's exactly like the Turris trade a year which gave us a huge shot in the arm and filled a big hole at #2C.

At least one guy on twitter from Denver (no idea who he is) says the Sens are frontrunners. Probably BS but no one else is saying it.

I'd imagine we are front runners. Who can trot out the prospects we can + perhaps a roster player. I'm finally starting to see the light in trading Z.Smith + Zibanejad for ROR + a small piece. People compare ROR to a young Patrice Bergeron - to which SD says: yes please.

As much as I love Smith, that is a move I would do, altho' I think COL must be looking for an offensive Dman in return, given their current backend.

They might be, don't know who we can offer for that. Zibanejad + Smith + Wiercioch is too much IMO unless Colorado is sending us back a little something else.

I have no allegiance to Wiercioch though. I've thought he's looked great some nights, poor some others, but nothing that would suggest he's a deal breaker or anything.
that's an overpayment for sure but maybe they can give us a 2nd rounder. I used to love smith but I think we can do without him now.

I guess...he'll turn into a snarling 3rd line C with nice offense though - and those are sometimes quite hard to find. But if ROR is really Bergeron-ish, then I'd say we need that.

That's his crappy year lol. Anyways, we'll get a better idea of what kind of player he is come Oct down in Bingo.

Mighty fine numbers for that kid. Like Boston needs another stud.

Smith has been playing a pretty good shutdown role. Contained Tavares, Kessel and Vanek off well (not sure if that was EK). I recall Neely saying that Smith will nicely replace Chris Kelly here.

Yeah, he'll be a pretty decent replacement. So would Condra though, and Greening, and Grant...not to put Smith down, he's a favourite of mine, but again, ROR is a Patrice Bergeron? If so, then yes.

I'd put Smith and Grant as competitors. Centres, faceoffs and solid 2-way play required. Smith is obviously ahead of the curve at this point and he can be a physical pest if he feels like it.
RoR might be too good/too much money for a 3rd line role. I can't imagine us giving him more money than Turris but that's what he apparently wants.
Turris would look good on the wing, he's more of a shooter than a passer so he should be able to use that shot of his more.

No doubt he would. That said, I would also trade a prime Kelly for a young Bergeron lol.
