Use it or lose it for sure. I too took it unil OAC at SRB. And then one of my first jobs was over in the Govt office at Place du Portage in Hull so it was French all day there for me. Since moving to Toronto though, my French has gone way down hill. My daughter is in French immersion here so it's coming back slowly as I help her with her homework.Hoags wrote:LeKing wrote:I know quite a lot of people who don't speak french in here. I took it until OAC but as they say "Use it or lose it". I can understand a good amount but it always seems like francophones are talking too fast for me to fully understand. Plus we never really studied slang and other terms you'd hear on the street and in the workplace, very little "practical" french was taught. I go on business trips to Montreal from time to time and I could never in a million years function in the workplace there, fortunately everyone there speaks near flawless english. But if you go deeper into Quebec you are pretty much SOL.
