I took it until OAC but as they say "Use it or lose it". I can understand a good amount but it always seems like francophones are talking too fast for me to fully understand. Plus we never really studied slang and other terms you'd hear on the street and in the workplace, very little "practical" french was taught. I go on business trips to Montreal from time to time and I could never in a million years function in the workplace there, fortunately everyone there speaks near flawless english. But if you go deeper into Quebec you are pretty much SOL.
Use it or lose it for sure. I too took it unil OAC at SRB. And then one of my first jobs was over in the Govt office at Place du Portage in Hull so it was French all day there for me. Since moving to Toronto though, my French has gone way down hill. My daughter is in French immersion here so it's coming back slowly as I help her with her homework.

A language that stems from Latin (the language of Rome, hence the name "Romance" or "Romantic").

Yep, the language of the "Romans", hence the "Romans" (roman-z / roman-ce) language. Nothing funny about it; it's pretty elementary European history.

People nowadays associate "romance" with "sappy love narratives" or "love" generally, but that's a very modern imposition. "Romance" originally means "the romance languages" (i.e., Latin-derived). It also became directly associated with things written in the romance languages, especially prose narratives (i.e., tales about chivalrous knights), which were in turn called "romances", and were early precursors for the novel. And so it is that the French (a romance language) name for "novel" is actually "roman".

When I was in Ottawa all my education was in French and at home we spoke French as well. I have a job that pays me very well because I am bilingual and it's a win-win because I read and write it everyday. Having said this, my French is nowhere as good as it was when I was in Ottawa, living in Toronto for 18 years will do that I guess. Both my kids are in French school, not immersion. Helping them out with homework is helping me out as well. My wife is anglophone but her French has improved immensely and the language spoken at our house is now french for the most part. Inever thought that would be the case.

That would be nice. Hopefully he can give us a shot in the arm offensively.

Can't possibly make it worse than it already is.

They're due to suck his weiner at this point. Great depth, happy to see the kids playing well, Boroweicki will be back, Da Costa has some fine tuning to do, pleasantly surprised with Gryba etc.

I feel bad for Bryan Murray. I'd rather gag myself with a plunger than talk to Doug Maclean and Nick Kypreos.

Ditto. Especially when you know as much as Murray does talking to those two who know jack and Dung.

I'd rather have a conversation about hockey with my cat, Baby King.

Reports from Sens practice have Daugavins is the centre of the fifth line, between Michalek and Stone. Sounds like 9mm and Stoner may accompany the team on the trip.

Mark Stone might play ? Beer

That's awesome with a capital A. The best first impression by a Sens prospect in recent memory setting up that Spezza goal in the playoffs.

Him and 9MM wearing grey jerseys, those are the non-contact ones right ?

Stone might get a look up in the top 6 which would be nice. Man, the Sens need Spezza back big time.
