I think that's pretty unlikely that we go after both personally.

Assuming that people are healthy next season - and if they're not, we need to rely on depth as usual, then you have the following locked into a top 6 spot:

1.Alfredsson
2.Spezza
3.Michalek
4.Turris
5.Silfverberg
6.OPEN

then the following are locked into bottom six roles:

1.Neil
2.Greening
3.Z.Smith
4.Condra
5.battle between JOB, Daug, DD, Grant, Hoffman, Stone, Zibanejad, maybe Regin, Da Costa
6.see 5

I'd assume that whoever loses the training camp battles for 5 and 6 in the bottom six become the 13th forward, so really, there's one space open and that should be a top line forward. Getting 2 probably over populates the forward ranks and perhaps even sends the wrong message to the players that have worked so hard to become NHLers.

Now...a top line F and a 2nd pairing right hander...? That I can get on board with.

If you are trading for Perry you can almost bet Michalek is going the other way.

Fair enough, I'd still try to fill that slot from within, but that would change things a bit.

You are also probably giving up a pretty good prospect or player. I think Weircioch might be the guy that ends up being traded for the simple fact the left side of Ottawa's blueline is very deep and at this point he would the #5, 6 guy at best.

Michalek/Weircioch/1st for Perry is about as good a deal as Anahiem would find I imagine. 2 NHL players and a mid 1st round pick. Giving up Stone would suck though.

I wouldn't give up that much unless he is already signed. Way too much risk on our part. What did NJ give up for Kovalchuk ?

Not much but a 1st rounder is a must no matter what.

Oh yeah I agree with you 100% on that one.

Atlanta received defenceman Johnny Oduya, rookie forward Niclas Bergfors and junior prospect Patrice Cormier, and a first round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Kovalchuk and defenceman Anssi Salmela; the teams also traded second round selections in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Hmm they gave that up with no guarantee Kovy would sign with them.

That's basically Greening, Weircioch, Da Costa, and a 1st. That's a hefty price.

lyou make that Kovy trade 10/10 times. They literally gave up nothing other than the 1st ,really.

Looks awful if Kovulchuk doesn't resign and Burgfors actually turns out. I think a lot of it had to do with Atlanta having close to no professional that's worth a lick, same with the Hossa deal.

Ryder is now back in Montreal -- traded for Cole.

Oduya is playing pretty well in Chicago.

I kind of like that trade for Montreal... a lot actually but Ryder might not have the same scoring opportunities that he did in Boston and Dallas with that team defense MTL plays.

They also get to take 2 years off a big contract. I bet Ryder will still be available come July 5.

I don't like him much, but who else could see Roy as a target in July? For obvious reasons.

He was huge in Boston's cup win and he can score goals. Exactly what the Sens need up front. Simple game and all his game is, is scoring goals. I like him a lot as that 2nd line winger or even first line winger with Spezza.

As for Roy, meh, he's nothing special and would have a tough time finding a spot up the middle in Ottawa. Sens need a couple wingers for the most part.

Who are you replying to in the first part?
