I mentioned the Bishop to CBJ. When Jarmo was hired as GM. Drafted Ben in St Louis. BM dealing in a position of strength.

Interesting point by Simpson about the Bishop/Jarmo/CBJ connection.

Really depends on the offer at this point. Bishop is amazing insurance for us right now.

He does but I like Lehner too. If Ottawa is indeed interested in a Brassard or someone along those lines I think they can afford to deal Bishop. I like Tyutin as well out of CBJ. Always have.

Don't see why you would touch this team. Just roll with it and build, build, build. Sens have enough prospects and a huge piece in Bishop to sell off at the draft. No reason to mess with a team that is winning and headed for the playoffs, especially a young one. None.

I'd still look for a scoring winger, but that's highly unlikely at this point. Still would love Dan Boyle though, ideally for Gonchar + (yeah I know, it'd never happen).

There's that too. In fact that's the route I would prefer. Who knows what needs Murray has identified and if those needs are fully addressed by making move or two, I can't see him turning that away.

Do the Sens even need a roster player at this point? They might need a sniper on the wing but that is really about it. I don't think anyone feels uncomfortable with the defense and goaltending going into next year.

Cowen/Karlsson
Methot/Gryba
Phillips/Weircioch
Borowiecki/Benoit

Anderson
Lehner

Maybe getting a guy like Boyle to really create depth on the blueline is in the cards but nothing from Columbus will provide that really.

The mistakes organizations make is they stop drafting and worry about winning this very second and throw caution to the wind. If it's the right player for sure, you make a move with some draft picks but going out and getting what someone is willing to give up vs what you need is a mistake. The Sens need more forwards on the wings and they can draft them as they do not take long to develop.

All true. I still think there's a chance that some guys come back sooner than expected and a minor move or two, where we don't clean out our depth, gets done at that point. As always, who really knows?

Once they start getting bodies back it will be tough to send DD and Zibanejad back down... even going into next year there will be some tough calls. I think Daugavins might be the odd man out it terms of opening up a roster spot to bring in a big time winger.

By the time it's all said and done the Sens could very much looks like this next year.

UFA/Spezza/Michalek
Alfi/Turris/Silfverberg
Greening/Zibanejad/Condra
Neil/Smith/Regin
JOB/DD

Cowen/Karlsson
Methot/Gryba
Phillips/Weircoich
Benoit/Boroweicki

Anderson
Lehner

Not sure that isn't the best team top to bottom in the East.

Although I totally see why keeping the team as it is is the best move right now can we predict where we'll stand 2 months from now with Bishop? He's hot now. His value is probably the highest it's been so far. Like everything we could go into a losing streak that brings his value down.
It's a question of sell high. I mean on top of it we get Andersson back soon so right now (within a two weeks period) would and could be our best time.

That's a nice team there - I guess depending on who that UFA is. Still, top to bottom a good balance.

Could by Ryder, there's a guy who can light it up and never gets any credit for it. Murray wanted him before as well and he has a cup ring. Wouldn't cost a ton in terms of contract length or cap hit either and he's having another pretty solid year.

You're right, could be... Plan B or C.
I guess it would be nice getting a legit top line winger instead of trying to have a 2nd line winger up there. Mind you so many times this season I see Silf and see one in the making.

How can you break up the Methot/Karlsson pairing ? Dammit!

No guarantee Perry will test UFA on July 1st, we do need another top end forward though.

Because Gryba and Methot look like a crazy shut down pairing as well. Fact is you can mix and match with that kind of balance.

As for Ryder being plan B or C, he's a legit top 6 guy and was huge in Boston's playoff run, very underrated player.

Dallas may want to hang on to Ryder as well. Free agency is tough.

Be nice if we could keep Wiercioch in the fold somehow, it's nice to have someone other than EK who can make great breakout passes. Playing with Gonchar, he seems to be modeling his game after him.

We may need two top 6 forwards this coming offseason. A little insurance against Michalek getting hurt and The Alfie slowing down (if he does indeed come back, which I think he will at this point).

Ideally I would see The Alfie on line 3 with powerplay duty.

Eugene will keep us near the floor so I think we'll go for another Latendresse type experiment at best. Stone/Hoffman could get a shot as well. Apparently Hoffman might be done for the year ?
