For those worried about how long of a recovery, or if he'll come back at the same level, there's hope. Here's something Elliotte Friedman tweeted:

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
Teemu Selanne on Erik Karlsson: "I want to wish Erik the best. It's a tough injury because it's bad luck. He can come back from this...

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
For me, it was about six months. I felt soon after that I could play my normal game again." Thanks to @AnaheimDucks for facilitating this.

Selanne had his Achilles lacerated 80% during his second season, in 93-94...

Ah. Here are some things that were said yesterday.

Yup. No point having Anderson playing if the Sens can't score a goal or keep possession of the puck. Sell super high, ship him off to Columbus or Chicago.

Because no matter what your team looks like you need a goaltender. Columbus doesn't have one that can cover up for the mistakes of a really young team like Anderson has for Ottawa. Lehner is ready, he deserves the shot and Bishop will be right there to push him.

Trading Anderson has to be considered now.

Lehner is an NHL goalie man. He's the AHL MVP and the best player not in the NHL. He deserves the net. As for Anderson if you can get a kings ransom for him it might not be the worst idea.

You gotta see how long Karlsson is out for first before making an decisions... if it's over a year than you move Anderson.

Yup, exactly what I am thinking. Ship him off to Columbus for LA's 1st and Wiznewski or something, let Lehner run with it now because there is absolutely no point in having Anderson in nets now.

Training camp is in a little over 7 months. He should be ok.

I'm not going to give up on the year until they play a series of games without him. Maybe they actually start to play some team D now.

Yep. Focus is on next season. Cowen will be back. EK will be back. Turris will have more experience, as will Zib and the other kids... hopefully we have some more scoring support up front.

If the kids can find any success over the rest of this year, the league better watch out next season. Nod

Reactionary posts for sure but if you are looking long term along with the fact you don't want to throw in the towel (which they shouldnt). Like I said, best thing to do right now is ride things out but if the right deal for Anderson was there you could make it.

Also said trade for Wiznewski which I basically retracted today as well.

If the Rags and Habs win tonight, Sens will find themselves in 8th spot, barely clinging on...

They can do this though, this becomes a galvanizing, group effort from here on. We need to be hard to play against and we need to drive the net and hope for the best, but we can do it.

It's not done until it's done. Give me a break, we have a Vezina caliber goalie and a Jack Adams nominee and one of the premiere builders in the league as GM.

the sens can work through this it is just not going to be pretty and every game is going to be a long hard battle they will need to grind out every game it is the main way they can win now may not have a lot of high power offense left but they can grind out many wins
