Unless they can get Wiznewski for a decent price then don't bother. ROR is a long term fixture if he happens to be had but other than that, gotta sit tight and see how things fall.

Why don't bother with The Wiz? He's perfect for here.

That's a player, if they wanted to move him you could get in the off season. Right now you have to let things plays out.

1) you can't give up on the team and they won't.
2) Karlsson can't be replaced nor can Spezza
3) It has to be a move that makes sense.

Maybe they could get in on the O'Reily "sweeps"? Ahhhhh!

3-4 months isn't bad and he will have the summer to recover and strengthen the muscles in and around the calf. He has all the time in the world to heal up and come back strong in Sept.

My thoughts: Murray's best move is no move. Ride this crap out. Give the kids some more time. Benoit will see more time, call up Gryba maybe. Some teams may come calling for Gonchar at the deadline... we'll see.

Still think they have to move a goalie but Gonchar will bring back a nice little return. Gryba is the next one coming up, don't think there is much question about that at all.

I think it's time to run with the youngens. Trade Gonchar, Anderson and any other spare parts you can come deadline day in exchange for youth and picks. Lehner will be ready for the big show and, by all accounts, he's learned that you don't get things handed to you in this league.

Yep. Focus is on next season. Cowen will be back. EK will be back. Turris will have more experience, as will Zib and the other kids... hopefully we have some more scoring support up front.

Mendes: Murray on his approach: "I don't want to give up the best prospect in my organization for a short-term guy here."

Yep. Gotta think long term. Keep the plan in motion.

Not convinced you trade Anderson honestly... yah, maybe a consideration but next year could be the year the Sens turn the corner and you want to of the best in Lehner and Anderson in there I think.

Gonchar is gone... he's nothing more than a spare part at this point. Lundin might be dealt to a contender for a 7th or some AHL help. Bishop will probably be traded as well, hopefully for something around a 2nd round pick or better, Regin might be dealt for a team needing depth, Greening the same.

Probably a slip by Murray there. ie. his best prospect, Zibanejad, is in play for ROR who is not a short-term guy.

Yup, don't lose sight of the goals put in place. If they can sign one big time winger next year the Sens will be absolutely loaded. No knee jerk or emotional reactions.

I'm at work and have absolutely no idea what was said and when.

For those worried about how long of a recovery, or if he'll come back at the same level, there's hope. Here's something Elliotte Friedman tweeted:

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
Teemu Selanne on Erik Karlsson: "I want to wish Erik the best. It's a tough injury because it's bad luck. He can come back from this...

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
For me, it was about six months. I felt soon after that I could play my normal game again." Thanks to @AnaheimDucks for facilitating this.

Selanne had his Achilles lacerated 80% during his second season, in 93-94...
