I might agree that Cogs could look ok on the third line but gaaaahhhhh! I don't think he's an answer for the second.

Cogliano is a guy who would fit perfectly into a MacLean system. Fast, handles the puck well, and can score around 15 goals a season on the 3rd line while doing a lot of work on the PK.

He's a better player than Greening and over a year younger but w/e, we'll see what happens.

IIRC Cogliano is a tweener, plus Anaheim doesn't have much depth at center past Getzlaf (who they might lose this summer) so I doubt they can afford to trade him (for a winger at least).

RoR is the guy Murray should target. Just like the Turris situation last year, although I suspect he'll be expensive to get due to the large amount of interest. If we had Spezza/Turris/RoR down the middle we'll be rocking.

Getting a nights sleep didn't help in the least, still so bummed about what happened last night.

If you are the Sens right now you tell Spezza to just take your time, get better, make sure you are 100% healthy.

You let things play out over the next week or so and take it from there if you are Murray I believe. See where this team is in regards to their play and more importantly their moral.

It's going to be tough getting the Sens up for each and every for MacLean. There is no easy way around this and it's going to be a struggle the rest of the way. Hopefully he can find a way to keep things entertaining and give people something to watch.

The one thing that needs to happen is getting some muscle up here. Gryba is on his way for sure, I don't think there is any question about that and Boroweicki won't be far behind either. Kassian from Minny for a 7th right now would be a good idea and a good idea for the future. Clearly people are going to take advantage of Karlsson and the other teams need to be held accountable.

Have to weigh your options with Anderson too. Is he the guy you want to have in the nets for the next year or so while Lehner is the backup? I think yes but at the same time is the time now to get Lehner is and play a ton of games? Think the answer to that is yes as well. I think a move which includes a goalie is right around the corner now.

Would be surpprised is the Sens don't finish in the basement of the division and the conference. I think a top 5 pick is all but a guarantee and they may even be picking in the top 3. The year is totally sunk.

I'm not sure we need a goon who plays 5 minutes a night, I thought we are moving away from that and have players who can play.

We were for sure but at this point you need a guy who is going to protect a lot of the kids and hopefully one that can play.

I'm at a loss for words right now because I don't know where you go from here other than play the games that are in front of you.

Might as well just put bubble wrap around the whole team.

I hope Alfi comes back for 1 more because going out like this isn't right. You have to think the fact next year is an Olympic year is a huge factor.

Diddle man. So depressing. And of course, it's all over the news. Don't want to hear any more about it. Bah.

My thoughts: Murray's best move is no move. Ride this crap out. Give the kids some more time. Benoit will see more time, call up Gryba maybe. Some teams may come calling for Gonchar at the deadline... we'll see.

Still think they have to move a goalie but Gonchar will bring back a nice little return. Gryba is the next one coming up, don't think there is much question about that at all.

Melnyk should pitch in for Kevlar socks for the entire team. Too late now to help Karlsson, but going forward, let's not have this happen again.

Hopefully Karlsson comes back and is strong as ever because he's literally the best D man in the game.

They key now is that he comes back 100%. He was on his way to another Norris-trophy winning season by the looks of it. The hope is that he can come back and continue on his path of destiny.

Or even stronger/faster like the kid in Rookie of the Year.

Seriously, though, how many tendon lacerations have we seen over the last few years. Why can't they get neck-to-wrist-to-ankle underarmour stuff made of kevlar or some other cut-resistant material?

We'll see. The biggest thing will be his ability to mentally bounce back and IMO Karlsson has more upstairs than actually physical ability and that's saying something. Wouldn't hesitate to draft Seth Jones if the shot is there though...

Adding Jones would be amazing. Not sure if we fall that far down... but with the new draft, who knows. Anyone out can win.

Weren't you just saying the opposite (re: Jones) in the other thread? That we need to draft forwards?

We will need a top-line center in a few years. I have my doubts about Turris and Zibanejad, and certainly Da Costa. They'd both be fine behind Spezza, but eventually we will need a replacement. Can MacKinnon be "it"? If we sink in the standings and are in the bottom five, do we make a splash at the draft? Could we, even? Or perhaps Lindholm or Monahan (like his size) -- more achievable than a top-2 pick, and who the hell knows, really, if any of them will turn out to be a #1C.

New plan: trade for ROR, draft Jones. Win Cup next year.

I am in the sense that I think Karlsson will eat up too many minutes for Jones to really get in the door as a legit #1 guy but in the same breath you might want to draft him just incase Karlsson isn't the same player when he comes back.
