Not sure if it's a red flag. He might not be happy there, he might know he's just playing out the string, maybe management said something to him, etc, etc, etc.

I dunno man...maybe. It's hard for me to swallow that a former Hart Trophy winner would be 'checked' out in what would normally be November of a hockey schedule with his team 6-1. That means when the going gets rough, Perry shuts off.

Brett Lebda signed a PTO with the B-Sens and was at practice with the team this morning. Played in 30 NHL games last year with Columbus. A total of 397 NHL games to his credit. Only 31 years old and has history with MacLean (played for Detroit).

I have a hunch this is just to help the B-Sens; he's only 5'9" and shoots left -- Ottawa already has a couple of smaller D-men and they seriously need a RHS).

Depth move, nothing more.

Man... how much better would this team look with a healty Spezza and Cowen in the lineup. The East is so weak, we could have ruled like KINGS!

There's no benefit of the doubt if you saw what you think you saw. There's nothing good about that kind of attitude.

That said, I too would like to take that chance.

Huh...I was laying in bed trying to get to sleep yesterday and I was wondering if we could/would be signing forwards and D-men because Ottawa is taking them all away (rightfully). Next up might be a PTO to a decent forward.

Sure there is. He know he isn't going to resign, the Ducks want to move him, what motivation is there? He's done all he could possibly do as a Duck. Sometimes the motivation isn't there just like any other job you might be bored at.

Is it a problem that the motivation isn't there? Yes. Is it uncommon or something that should be held against him? No.

I have to agree with Neely if he isnt motivated he isnt going to play well. Not exactly the same but 2010-2011 season Anderson was having issues with the AVs 0.897 sav 3.28 GAA moved him to the sens int he last 16 games 0.939 Sav and 2.05 GAA. there was other issues than just motivation but we don't know what is going on between perry and the ducks

I don't know, as a worker myself I can totally see how demoralizing that can be. But as a hockey fan I see the potential red flags.
Without a NTC he could be heading anywhere. which also means he won't have to resign anywhere.
two possible scenarios here. they trade him as a rental and get a minimum (high) return from a team or better they get the maximum return with a contract.
Problem is you have to wonder what Perry is thinking. they just adjusted the CBA so they can't mess with contracts the way they used to. he's looking at getting the max anyways. I guess if Anaheim aren't dumb they've already done the leg work as to find ut from him where he'd like to land with a contract so they could possibly work out a deal with a team with an extension added dictated by Perry's camp. seems that would be the smartest move. could explain why his heart isn't in it. certainly doesn't help the Ducks ge max value either.
