I don't know, as a worker myself I can totally see how demoralizing that can be. But as a hockey fan I see the potential red flags.
Without a NTC he could be heading anywhere. which also means he won't have to resign anywhere.
two possible scenarios here. they trade him as a rental and get a minimum (high) return from a team or better they get the maximum return with a contract.
Problem is you have to wonder what Perry is thinking. they just adjusted the CBA so they can't mess with contracts the way they used to. he's looking at getting the max anyways. I guess if Anaheim aren't dumb they've already done the leg work as to find ut from him where he'd like to land with a contract so they could possibly work out a deal with a team with an extension added dictated by Perry's camp. seems that would be the smartest move. could explain why his heart isn't in it. certainly doesn't help the Ducks ge max value either.

looking at the amount of depth we have in the farm system we should be making a deal soon. did the BB date on Pumpel pass already? could we have sold high on him before? I'm not sure. i'd like to see how he does pro but that might disappoint.

Selanne made a name for himself in Anaheim. Then sucked in Colorado (with Kariya), then went back. Simple point, his heart wasn't in Colorado. Who's to say that Perry's heart is in Ottawa?

Plenty things wrong but that doesn't mean he can't turn it around he's more than capable. If anything, his sulking and sucking should help in lowering his value and that's the point the sens and all other interested teams will hammer into anaheim's GM (murray?)

Well point is I don't think there are any red flags. Guys need a change of scenery all the time. Hell even Patrick Marleau needed a fresh start, and he stuck with it and is killing it this year.

Here's the thing....we've been burned by this before. Heatley saga anybody?

We got some good years out of him but the way it ended is not something we want to go through again. Now we take risks like that all the time, even if it delivers short term success like Heatley did. In the end its still worth it but we lost Hossa in the process.

The price has to be right is what I'm getting at. I want Murray to try to get him but his current attitude and performance needs to be leveraged into a better deal for the sens.

Huh...someone gets it.

Really hope Murray pulls the trigger on a deal for him but I think they need to move Bishop for a draft pick or two before they trade any more away.

This makes no sense to me. Don't most players seem to turn the volume up in a contract year? I've never heard of someone not trying to avoid getting injured because their contract is coming up.

But he's playing for a team that does not have him in their long-term plans. His existing body of work is what the GMs will look at much more than the first half of this season. Assuming he gets moved at or before the trade deadline, he then has plenty of time to show his new employer what he is worth.

Does that make more sense now?
