We're down Spezza, now we're down a top 6 player we were hopeful could put some pucks in the net. Michalek is doing his usual invisible routine. Silfverberg is a baby in the NHL, so is Z-Bad. Turris is facing heavy checking now because there's pretty much no one else. Z.Smith is handling the puck like a grenade, Greening is only effective these days when he drives the net. Regin is useless...

Alfie looks good thank goodness, but holy moly are we ever up against the wall right now. If not for Anderson, we'd be Cussed.

He does?

Yep.

No it's not. Especially with Sherman's job on the line. He better do something with ROR - and if he trades him, it better be a good trade this time.

Greening is a guy I would absolutely look at to upgrade the wing position as well... he maybe a guy that will never live up to his rookie year. That might be the guy going the other way for any deal involving a deal for Perry. Solid player that any team would want but not exactly a staple either.

Bah, really depends. He's a guy you win with as a 3rd line player, plus he's cheap, he's intelligent on the ice, he's a stand up guy off the ice. I wouldn't want to move him.

IF, repeat if Anaheim insists, then perhaps, but I'd really rather not - and I think Murray feels the same.

He won't be cheap in a year and he has value... maybe the most he ever will. You will need to give up a legit roster player if you want a guy like Perry

If you could trade Bishop, Greening, and Stone for a signed Corey Perry, you wouldn't think twice.

How much more will he make though? Up to 2? 2.5?

I'd love Perry and would meet that price if Perry would sign an extension. Without an extension it's a complete waste.

That's not even close to being enough IMO. Not that the value is low, but there are 29 other teams who are interested out there. I'm sure other teams wouldn't even hesitate to offer one of their top wingers just to get an upgrade in Perry.
Starts with MIchalek IMO.

Ducks are doing pretty well right now....I don't see them trading Perry this season.

No problem. I love Michalek, but he's a good 2nd liner. I'd do that + in a heartbeat.

Then they'll lose him for nothing - unless he re-signs of course. Which is a very, very dangerous game to play with such a high profile pending UFA.

The Ducks are a team that can't afford to let him walk. Short of being a Stanley Cup favorite, they will trade him. No way does he walk as a UFA... that's a team that is rebuilding anyways but have some good pieces to start.

Look at what Hossa and Kovulchuk went for... we have this discussion every single year and it always ends up with "that's all they got?".

Agreed but same could have been said for Parise with the devils (IMO weren't cup favorites up until after trade deadline). Depends on the market but unless they start tanking badly or become a bubble team, I just don't see Perry getting traded. If they tank, I expect both getzlaf and perry to get traded.

Put it this way, if the Ducks know they won't resign Perry they will trade him. The Devils thought they had a shot resigning Parise and did... he was also their captain. Perry is neither the franchise there or a player that seems overly happy to be there by all accounts.

If Methot and him are still close, I can see him trying to get in touch with him to point out how fun our team is. Karlsson, Spezza, Anderson, Cowen are the nucleus of which championship teams are built, adding a guy like Perry to our already excellent depth would be a huge step in the right direction.

They've got nice pieces over there, but if Perry and/or Getzlaf won't commit to a re-sign soon, they'll be shipped out for valuable pieces. That's the way to do things in this NHL, if you can't/won't keep a superstar, you trade him for pieces that will help you in the VERY near future - not to mention, the $$ savings on an already cash strapped team.

I think they move...before the end of the season (meaning their rights).

Hossa and Kovalchuk were traded by lottery teams in a rebuild, in need of prospects and a 1st round pick.
Anaheim as of right now has lost 1 game in regulation. If they can't re-sign him they will trade his rights at the end of the season while 29 teams will be lining up. Until then, they will wait for the right offer. Maybe Perry wants to re-sign if he sees the team is going the right direction.
Perry's value Today, at the trade deadline or at the end of the season will be 3 totally different things.

Unless Perry has asked for a trade, that I'm not aware of.
