Wait until he is a UFA. Then you get to keep your prospects. Giving up that much for a rental for a couple of months is a waste.

The Sens will go hard for him. The best he can get is 7 yr term... the money will be the issue. If he wants to play close to his home... it will be Toronto or Ottawa (he has a connection with Carlyle and Bryan Murray) -- the outside would be Mtl or Buffalo..

If he wants to win a Cup -- then it will be some other team. Can the Rangers afford him? What about the Pens, Boston?

Will he want to play in Canada? A lot of Canadian players don't want to.

I think the idea is to get him to help out now but also give Murray time to work out an extension. No one is suggesting getting Perry as a rental.

Best option. I thought Weircioch handled the 1st PP unit with Karlsson really well yesterday and he's starting to play with a lot of confidence when he has the puck. His play without the puck is a big time worry still but he's getting better. All that you can really ask for. Boroweicki is starting to struggle in that puck moving system. MacLean is a professional and knows exactly what he wants so me saying Weircioch is in deep to find a spot on the blueline for the future, lol, that's why I type my random thoughts on a website. Super impressed with Weircioch, again.

Yeah, better be careful you might get whiplash changing your opinion so violently Laughing3

Karlsson and Benoit were also tried out. I am seeing a trend, though -- no Phillips.

He also had Zibanejad and Silfverberg flanking Babyhead. The baby line? The babies The bambini?

BooBoo: Gonchar still out with the flu. Could play tomorrow. Latendressee has re-ocurring whiplash effects from game in Montreal.

That's great. Wiercioch's game is coming along really well 5 on 5, but on the PP it's always looked pretty good. The key to him sticking in the NHL is continuing to battle 5 on 5 IMO and we're really starting to see that now.

Karlsson - Benoit is another option, or just move Benoit to PP2 with Z-Bad or someone with a hard shot.

He's done. They need a winger to come in and replace him in a top 6 role right now. The quicker they make a move for that player the better IMO. If they can just swing Bishop for a 2nd and use that in any deal that would be a great move.

I don't think my opinion has changed so much as I may have been pretty wrong about Weircioch. The things he is lacking can be taught.

No risk signing didn't work out but they need someone to step in and fill that role, right now there is no one short of moving Da Costa to the wing (where he should be IMO) or Zibanejad.

I don't think he's done, but I think Murray needs to find a contingency plan...now. We're down Spezza, now we're down a top 6 player we were hopeful could put some pucks in the net. Michalek is doing his usual invisible routine. Silfverberg is a baby in the NHL, so is Z-Bad. Turris is facing heavy checking now because there's pretty much no one else. Z.Smith is handling the puck like a grenade, Greening is only effective these days when he drives the net. Regin is useless...

Alfie looks good thank goodness, but holy moly are we ever up against the wall right now. If not for Anderson, we'd be Cussed.

Whiplash means concussion IMO. I think he's close to done as a hockey player.

The Sens need a winger to step up and step up quickly. Wouldn't hesitate trading Smith in a package for O'Reily either.

I wouldn't either, but I bet Colorado has an issue. Besides, nice contract extension for Smith and potentially a massive piece of a deep playoff run.

I would take ROR over Smith every day of the week. You would have to add to Smith but ROR would be a perfect 3rd line guy behind Turris and Spezza for the next 5 years. Either way, it's not going to happen.

No it's not. Especially with Sherman's job on the line. He better do something with ROR - and if he trades him, it better be a good trade this time.

Greening is a guy I would absolutely look at to upgrade the wing position as well... he maybe a guy that will never live up to his rookie year. That might be the guy going the other way for any deal involving a deal for Perry. Solid player that any team would want but not exactly a staple either.
