What does the defense look like for tonight's game? Lawson in goal?

I feel bad for Gryba... He should get his chance.

He did alright minding the store:

Big Dman Eric Gryba easily biggest minute eater and was a rock for #BSens tonight. D plays and physical presence. And he chipped in 2 goals.

Also, something that has flown by without much talk and for good reason as it was a minor signing was Bingo's back up Chevrie. Kid had a lot of hype about him coming out of Uni of Denver and was considered a legit NHL prospect.

Pretty good low risk signing and has some potential for growth and could get an NHL backup out of him at some point down the line. This is only his 3rd season out of Uni as well so it's not like he has no shot at developing more at the AHL level.

They just waived Lawson. Does that mean they are sending him back to Elmira and bringing up someone else? As good as Chevrie is, the rules say you have to dress two, and Bishop/Lehner aren't coming back for a few days.

Yeah, that was another very solid signing. The Murrays have done one of the best jobs in the league providing this organization with not only great draft picks, but smart free agent signings.

All teams are waiving someone. Isn't this something that is normally done at the beginning of the season on those AHL players that are waiver eligible and won't be playing in the NHL. Is it more or less... paperwork?

Lawson wasn't on an NHL contract. At least I don't think so. He was brought up from Elimira. So if he was waived I'd think it was to go back to the Jackals, but that leaves only Chevrie in Bingo until Bishop or Lehner comes back.

CapGeek has him on Ottawa's payroll. Shrug CG's been wrong before, though.

No, they're probably right and I'm wrong. So then he's probably waived to be officially assigned to Bingo. Before he was in Bingo because there was no NHL. Something like that. Why'd they have to go and make it so complicated. Yeah, yeah, I know -- lawyers.

I thought he was just sent down to Elmira because they wanted to get Bishop in some AHL games. It was supposed to Lehner / Lawson in Bingo, I believe.

Cowick with 2+1, including a shortie (is that their 10th?); DaCosta with a pair as well. Give up 36 shots and only 1 goal, and it's their third stringer in goal. Maybe they are giving up piss-poor, low-quality shots so the goalie gets lots of easy work. Lots of shots keeps the goalies in the game, and so long as they are not quality chances, with no traffic in front, I guess I don't care if they give up 50 shots. Just keep on winning.

Wouldn't call Lawson a 3rd string goalie in the AHL... in the AHL he is for sure a starter but the depth just makes it seem that way. No matter, the fact he is playing well down in Bingo and picked up right where Lehner and Bishop left off is nothing but a positive. This is why people say "you build from the net out" because it builds confidence in your team if you can come away with wins night after night, for that you need solid goaltending.

All the guys down there seem to be developing and developing well. Da Costa like I have always said has more than enough NHL skill at this point but he needs to learn how to play the game, which he is. Always nice to see a local boy doing well in Cowick, would be awesome if he could get to the NHL as a 4th liner, 3rd liner if the organization gets lucky.

Yeah, Lawson's only a third string because if the depth we have. He's a top AHL goalie
