O'Brien to wear 18 apparently.

There is no reason to keep him in Bingo. None. Some fans think a goalie shouldn't play a game until he has 7 years under his belt in the AHL.
He hasn't even done ONE full season. He has the skill, he just needs the track record.
I'm sure Neely realizes what everyone is saying. It hurts nothing to have him spend another 40+ games in the AHL, then lead Bingo into the playoffs - in fact, it helps a LOT for him to play NHL hockey next year.
I'm saying it might hurt him, yah.

Sure you might use the excuse "well if that rattles him" etc etc... maybe it doesn't. Maybe it pisses him off to the point he won't resign with the Sens and asks to be traded. Not like that kind of thing doesn't happen all the time... see Turris.

He'll only get better...it's the same with any goaltender.

The Murrays have already rattled him plenty and he came back more mature and better than ever.
Lehner knows his time is coming up soon.
We don't need another Emery situation.

Didn't answer my question. Would his development improve being in the ECHL? Yes or no?

Wtf does that have to do with anything? Emery was ready to play in the NHL... and played well. He's just an bunghole.

It's about maturity and having a prospect earn his place with more than just a flash in the pan playoff run.
Lehner is an bunghole too, he got all cocky thinking he was set last year and he got all fat and lazy and he flat out sucked to the point where trade rumors started flying around.
You give them too much too soon and it goes to their head.
Lehner knows he's the best goalie in our system and he knows his time is coming. If he can just be patient and play flat out amazing in whatever league he is in, he'll get in.
Look at the development of all young goalies in the NHL right now and see how much time in the AHL they put in before they were mentally and physically prepared to play a full NHL season.
SpezDispenser wrote:All he needs to do is be patients for half a season...that's it. Work hard in the AHL as he has been, win, take them to the promised land again and he's in the NHL with no questions asked. Perhaps with Bishop, maybe I lose that bet, but one way or the other he's in the NHL next season. Is that too much to ask for him to be patient the rest of this year? No.

Too much of the organization to do what's right for the player and team? Not giving your team the best chance to win is basically criminal in the sporting world. That's called politics.

It's pretty obvious Ottawa should be using a goaltender to make a move for a D man at this point too.

My sources tell me Bogo is that D man. Details to follow.
