There is no reason to keep him in Bingo. None. Some fans think a goalie shouldn't play a game until he has 7 years under his belt in the AHL.

He hasn't even done ONE full season. He has the skill, he just needs the track record.

I'm sure Neely realizes what everyone is saying. It hurts nothing to have him spend another 40+ games in the AHL, then lead Bingo into the playoffs - in fact, it helps a LOT for him to play NHL hockey next year.

I'm saying it might hurt him, yah.

He'll only get better...it's the same with any goaltender.

Sure you might use the excuse "well if that rattles him" etc etc... maybe it doesn't. Maybe it pisses him off to the point he won't resign with the Sens and asks to be traded. Not like that kind of thing doesn't happen all the time... see Turris.

The Murrays have already rattled him plenty and he came back more mature and better than ever.

Lehner knows his time is coming up soon.

We don't need another Emery situation.

Really? He'll get better by playing against lesser teams and players than he was previously? Playing with players that he's just flat out better than? Practicing with a team he has been on for 3 seasons now that he has basically outgrown? Would be be getting better playing in the ECHL too? He would get tons of games there as well.

Wtf does that have to do with anything? Emery was ready to play in the NHL... and played well. He's just an bunghole.

As long as he plays and listens to Whamsey regarding rebound control + emotions in game, he'll grow even better. It won't hurt his development in the least.

Didn't answer my question. Would his development improve being in the ECHL? Yes or no?

Wouldn't hurt. Despite him being disgustingly good in the AHL, his rebound control has just rounded into better form. There's still a ways to go for him to be where the Sens want him to be in that regard - and we all know, rebounds in the AHL and rebounds in the NHL are different beasts. In the NHL, you get scored on immediately, in the AHL you don't always.

With that in mind...my opinion on Lehner can go two ways:

1.You keep him down there and he plays well, plays in the ASG, leads Bingo into the playoffs and we take a run.

2.You trade Bishop + for a really good, young defender and you bring Lehner up to practice with the NHL team and get 1 out of every 5 or 6 starts. I'm not sure which would be better for him personally...

It's about maturity and having a prospect earn his place with more than just a flash in the pan playoff run.

Lehner is an bunghole too, he got all cocky thinking he was set last year and he got all fat and lazy and he flat out sucked to the point where trade rumors started flying around.

You give them too much too soon and it goes to their head.

Lehner knows he's the best goalie in our system and he knows his time is coming. If he can just be patient and play flat out amazing in whatever league he is in, he'll get in.

Look at the development of all young goalies in the NHL right now and see how much time in the AHL they put in before they were mentally and physically prepared to play a full NHL season.

Would be interesting to find out. Maybe help his fighting skills?

If either Anderson or Bishop gets moved then Lehner goes straight to #1 starting goaler, no questions asked. That just isn't the case right now.

Too much too soon? He's better than Bishop and has been in the organization longer along with winning that "flash in the pan" championship. Are you saying Bishop deserves to be in Ottawa more than Lehner?

And I don't care who it is you don't sign a guy who hasn't proven he can play in the NHL to a 1 way deal and that's exactly what will happen with Lehner. No way he signs a 2 way deal next year. His time to be an NHL goaltender is now riding shotgun with Anderson, he's earned it by doing exactly what was asked of him.

Like Fluery, Ward, Price...? Funny they are probably going to be Canada's goaltenders at the Olympics too, lol.

All he needs to do is be patients for half a season...that's it. Work hard in the AHL as he has been, win, take them to the promised land again and he's in the NHL with no questions asked. Perhaps with Bishop, maybe I lose that bet, but one way or the other he's in the NHL next season. Is that too much to ask for him to be patient the rest of this year? No.

Too much of the organization to do what's right for the player and team? Not giving your team the best chance to win is basically criminal in the sporting world. That's called politics.

Then trade Bishop+ for a good player, the onus is on Murray. He should get 'er done. If the fish ain't biting, re-assess in the summer, that's all I can say right now.

With Bishop on a 1-way, it really is politics right now (plus again, it will NOT hurt Lehner to stay there another half a season).

Yup, it is on Murray to make a move.

It's pretty obvious Ottawa should be using a goaltender to make a move for a D man at this point too.

My sources tell me Bogo is that D man. Details to follow.

That would be nice.
