Not sure I ever really questioned Murray myself. I think he's one of the best hockey people in the world and has been the last 30 years. Probably a HOF too.

I am not questioning Murray.

I just think Nash will end up going to a team on his list(not us).

Pancakes wasn't bad in the playoffs. Terrible during the season but he wouldn't cost us anything since L.A wont be resining him.

You didn't, I was agreeing with you. You said he knows what he is doing.

But for people questioning him for wasting his time into a player that has no interest in the Sens, and he is being manipulated. I guess some people have more insight into NHL workings than actual NHL gm's.

That whole team was a disaster until Sutter showed up. No one could score, not just Penner. If it wasn't for Quick early on they would have missed the playoffs.

I like Penner, always have, on a line with Spezza and Michalek he scores 25 easy.

Murray basically has the door wide open, hasn't tipped his hand, says he is interested, and has done it about 50 times over the last 20 years as a GM.

You're right, people act like it's a game of cat and mouse, it isn't. Murray at the end of the day will basically say "this is what I am offering, if it's good enough lets do it, if it isn't then good luck with Nash and maybe there is another move we can make instead". The guy has built cup winners for years. Detroit, Florida (finals), Anahiem, and hopefully he will in Ottawa.

Penner will be a good 2nd line upgrade over Foligno, and a great winger behind Nash.

That's definitely a big top line. Hes the final option but probably the more realistic option. Put Nash behind us its just not happening.

Oh and not to mention the comments by Murray in which he said he didn't rhyme off a bunch of names, he made an offer and they talked, but that's about it. He said Howson wanted more but Murray didn't keep adding.

Murray is just throwing our hat in the rang for a player like Nash, because when such a player is available and you have assets you'd be dumb not to try.

That's it.

You get Penner and you play him with Spezza. That's the idea. Opens up a lot of room for a lot of players. Good luck controlling a combined 700lbs down low and leaving Karlsson alone on the point.

Either way, Penner is probably the option they go with and it makes sense. If they can't get him Hudler may be an option to play with Turris.

We need someone on Spezza's line who can create chances (other than #19). Greening and Michalek did a decent job of "making space".

Problem is all the offense still begins and ends with Spezza on that line. MacLean had to put Alfie on there at times because Greening and Michalek aren't very good at creating scoring chances on their own, which leads to Spezza making forced plays at times to try and get something to happen.

Penner won't improve that. Nash would (if he'd waive to Ottawa and Howson removes his head from his Donkey).

Let's see what he's got up his sleeve I guess.

Based on that, I'd say the Parise sweeps are already over.

Spezza likes to have the puck... can really create much unless it's space. Penner does that. Can't leave him alone and he does get chances on his own and had decent vision.

Honestly, I question whether people have actually watched Penner play or just listen to the stupid media articles because he was an easy target in Edmonton.

No, no. Penner drives the net with Michalek - and when they're not doing that, they're getting Spezza the puck then driving the net. That would be the beauty of Fat Penner, he'd draw defenders to him and create havoc in the goalie's crease while Spezza sets up Michalek, Karlsson, D-man X or banks one off the Fat One's arse.

Penner can dish the puck too... not sure why people think he's just some fat a$$ that doesn't do anything out there. 2 cups to his name playing on those teams top 2 lines. Maybe he's doing something right?
