Retroactive to Jan. 6 so he could come off as early as Wednesday. Hopefully for the Jackets, the injury (knee?) isn't too serious, cause they are really having a good serious and are close to their first franchise playoff appearance.

If he can stay healthy he is the difference between this teams success and failure.

Nash could be back this week by the sound of it, but the Jackets could very well look to make a move to bring in some more offense, especially since Brassard will miss the rest of the season.

This would be the perfect opportunity for a Spezza, Fisher or Vermette trade to get some picks and prospects (Filatov won't be moved though).

I have to agree with Asq2. Time for Murray (or whoever the next Sens GM will be if the rumors actually come to fruition) to start stockpiling picks and go absolutely berserk at this year's draft!

That's probably one of the most realistic proposals yet. Kuba adds some veteran presence and offense (if he continues to produce) and Vermette can fill in at center and add (hopefully) some offense as well as experience and penalty killing. Vermette seems like a Hitchock style of player.

A Columbus first pick could be a 14th-20th pick. Combined with our (plausible) top 5 and San Jose's bottom 5, that's pretty good.

Wonder if Columbus and Ottawa would do this.

No. We give 3 players including Gerber and likely Vermette maybe Neil (grinding winger?) and we get:

Leclaire and Russel (maybe or a different D-Man).

Leclaire is good in theory but in practice he's too brittle :D
