Hypothetically, how do people feel about our lineup if Latendresse and Regin both miss significant time this season. I know we have a ton on young talent, but both these guys getting hurt might mean 3-4 guys getting tossed into the fire.

My personal opinion is that Greening moves up and takes a top six role because we know he can fill it from last year. Probably Stone and Zibanejad would start in the bottom six, maybe Neil moves up, maybe Smith. It'll basically be the same as when Foligno goes absolutely stone cold and invisible, we'll have to make due. Although...all of this conjures up slightly bad memories of how many times Condra could miss a net.

Puking2

Latendresse will get it to start (just like Filatov did). Whether he keeps it is another story.

In that hypothetical Latendresse and Regin are both hurt.

Maybe, maybe not. We've got a few guys in Bingo who could take that roster spot and run with it.

He talked about all the recent signings/trades. His take on Latendresse was that he'll get a try out on the third line, and if he works out, great. He certainly has the ceiling to play top six but at this point it's not what Murray/Maclean will be planning.

Very sobering interview. He didn't come out and say it but I figure he was thinking Regin -- until there is another move, that is.

I have to say that makes zero sense. Everyone here knows I love Regin, but Latendresse was signed to play in our top 6 and score 25 goals, there can be no mistake there in my mind.

Regin will have to work - and work hard to get back into that top six - and even then, to do it he'll have to either usurp Silfverberg or move up due to injury. Unless Lat comes in out of shape, then he's Cussed here.

He was signed because he MIGHT BE ABLE TO do that. Nobody who is guaranteed to do that signs for 1 year at $1 million...

$2 mil, with bonuses factored in.

Huh. CapGeek has Latendresse listed as an RFA at the end of this contract, too, but I see he has 6 NHL seasons accrued already, with this upcoming year being his 7th. Think they have that one wrong -- or, at least, I don't see how it cold be right.

All I know is listening to Simpson was like listening to someone who didn't give a crap about appeasing the home town fans and painting a rosy picture. I can see how, once Foligno was moved, the remaining TGORs would start pointing out his inconsistent play, his too many penalties, and so on, but here was Simpson talking -- not necessarily negatively, but very candidly, at least -- about a new acquisition. It was very refreshing. He really is well connected and has made several calls (mostly on coaching hires) well in advance.

Hoffman is probably the guy that forces his way on to the team this year IMO. I think a guy like Borowiecki is already kind of penciled in but Hoffman is the guy that will really push... or he could be the Daugavins of last year. Get sent down early and then come up for most of the year. Think he gets the spot over Zibanejad.

Latendresse was not qualified by the Wild.

Does that make him an RFA at the end?

Not to my knowledge.

When the Wild declined to qualify him, his status went from an RFA to a 'type VI' (or some #) UFA. I just don't understand how he can be a RFA at the end of this coming year after 7 years' of pro hockey, & nor do I see how the Wild's decision while he was an RFA can impact him after he became a type VI UFA, and after he's signed another contract.

Yeah, maybe. That's getting pretty arcane, if so. Someone do the math, then check the CBA. Laugh1
