And that has stopped teams from doing that in the past?

Silfverberg will for sure get a chance in the event of injury, or if we get desperate. No question. He may well play if we end up in either situation. But to suggest that he's 'ahead on the depth chart' of current NHLers who got us to this point, is downright laughable -- that's my only point here.

If we can last that long, Silfverberg should get the spezza treatment from '03 when they inserted him for a spark while they were down 3-1 in the series

Fair enough. I understand the logic behind talking out a player that has been a part of the team getting where they are now for a player with no NHL experience as you pointed out.

I guess that with Silfverberg comes a lot of expectations based on how well he has played and how far he has taken and lead Brynas.

As Evan and I said, there might be 1 or two players who you might take out over Silfverberg.

Of course this all depends on both the Sens going far and Brynas losing or sweeping, and Silfverberg taking a spot from someone on the roster, which is up to him, and the coaches.

Yeah I know - and I get confused because they look all the same at first glance.

If they win I imagine he'll want time to celebrate not to mention he'll probably be banged up after that series is over.

I doubt we see him until the 2nd round, they're not going to fly him out the minute the final buzzer sounds in the SEL final.

Rangers fans on hockeybuzz appear to be very civilized. We should invite them here Smile

I assume Gilroy doesn't see any more ice time as a Sen unless we tank bad and feel a little shakeup is in order.

He played well in the last game against NJ, the goal was lucky but that was his best game in the uniform IMHO.

The keys to the Sens winning the series are going to be the same things that got them to the playoffs... staying healthy, solid goaltending by Anderson, Spezza stepping up and being the man, Alfie, Michalek and Turris chipping in and providing a balanced scoring effort, a successful PP, avoiding the PK and a stable set of D-men that clear the crap in front of Anderson and give him good looks at the puck.

They're going to be in tough up against the Rags and Lundqvist. Hopefully the Rangers bonk a bit. Torts will do his best to take the pressure off the players by putting it all on him.

Key to victory for Ottawa? WIN AT HOME!!! Sens haven't won a home playoff game in 5 years (game 3 against the ducks) which makes for a 6 game home losing streak

I think another major factor in this series (or any series the Sens will be in) will be Karlsson avoiding injury. Rangers are going to hit him every chance they can get. If he misses any time or is too banged up to play his game effectively that will be a major loss for us. He has to avoid getting hit/injured as much as possible and if the Rangers try anything funny Neil & co. need to respond, no holds barred.
