so many redflags on the guy. he just doesn't fit in the type of game we are playing. too slow. I can go to the waffle house if I want pancakes, not SBP.

Penner isn't slow though, that's a misconception.

And my whole point was Parise + Penner > Michalek + Penner, for example.

To get Parise NOW will cost the Sens something. I'm not even positive New Jersey would consider that deal anyways.

I'm sure thhey'd jump on it if they thought they'll lose parise in the off season. without a pre-established contract no way do i make that deal. and even then i think if we have a chance to get him to ink a contract now, we have the same chance on july 1st.

He fits into the current squad I think. Not sure why that is...he's been accused of being fat and lazy, but I've watched him recently and he's neither at the moment. He can't find him mojo in LA, but come to OTT and play LW with Spezza and Michalek or LW with Turris and Alf or even LW with Smith - and I'd like to assess what he could do in the final 25 games.

Unfortunately LA won't trade him for nothing - which is what I want to pay for this expensive reclamation project.

He's had exactly one season where his point total eclipsed 50 points. He's on pace for 20 this year. I'd pay exactly nothing as well, only I don't want him coming back.

Point totals maybe, but he had 93 goals in 3 and 3/4 years in Edmonton. Pretty much a 25 goal average and I'd imagine he's back to being a little more in shape. He's worth a shot IMO.

What makes you think he's back to being in shape? Was it the pancake injury or the fact that he's pacing for 20 points that makes you say that?

Just a feeling from watching him, he looks pretty good.

If penner can be had for something super cheap, it's worth a shot I think. But Murray seems pretty clear in just sticking with his current players and having them play better.

I'm liking JOB's game right now but just wish he'd finish once in a while. Konopka and Carkner may not see a game till someone gets injured now.

Penner was healthy scratched yesterday and today.

Well, I wouldn't touch anything down the middle, but if an upgrade on the top line RW spot, and an upgrade on defence could be found, I would listen.

He'll be ok. Maybe someone will go on waivers. Or, even better, maybe they'll increase the number of contracts each team can have to 60...waiver pickups to come.
