This thread is for the PlayBook. The other thread I started was for the Bold.

I just got my Playbook yesterday (and sold my iPad 1). For what I bought it for it's ideal - Blackberry Bridge.

Loaded lots of apps and Android apps on it already. The iPad experience is better IMHO having now owned both. I'll see if I'll end up keeping it or not. Some stupid annoyances on the Playbook - no AC3 filter, can't browse network shares, no SSH client, not turn by turn navigation - my iPad had all these with Apps I bought.

But bridge is brilliant though.

Hopefully an AC3 filter is coming soon to the PB. I don't think there is turn-by-turn support on the PB yet... it will get there eventually. As for your other ones... here you go:

Network shares (SMB) are browseable using Ghost Commander:
http://emtunc.org/blog/02/2012/browsing-network-shares-on-the-playbook/

SSH client for PlayBook:
http://www.berryreview.com/2011/11/29/new-ssh-telnet-rlogin-client-based-on-putty-for-blackberry-playbooks/

Also, your PB is network mappable from your computers at home. Drag and drop media files right onto it and access them right away. Try that with an iPad! Wink

BOOM!

Honestly, if RIM-Jim could pull off wearing a turtleneck we wouldn't be having this discussion (bald guys can't wear turtlenecks because they look like, well, you know).

I get an error installing this one: (unspecified error 008)

thanks for the other tips....

Ghost Commander installed fine for me. Did you install via App World?

It wouldn't work at home for some reason but installs at work.

I think there might be something wrong with mine. The operation is really slow (compared to Ipad 1). The browser is like molasses. Also when I play video, it's all pixelated - and I encoded the video to be friendly with Playbook - 1500kbps 1280x720 AAC.

I don't have alot on here yet - so I might try a hard reset to see if maybe some of the Android stuff is polluting the OS.

I really want to like this thing, but so far doing everything I used to do is a chore. (except Bridge which is Excellent!).

Sounds like there is something seriously wrong with yours. Did you jailbreak it at one point? Have you side loaded any Android apps? Maybe a system reset would be good. If you can "start over" with a fresh OS 2.0, but still have issues, it may be a hardware issue and you should see if you can get it swapped out.

Do you mean on a web page? Or in an app? What kind of issues? I simply tap on it, the selections come up and then I tap the one I want. If there are a lot to choose from you can scroll and then tap.

I can't scroll then tap, the second I take my finger off to scroll down, it loads the page I had my finger on in the first place.
