Ottawa apparently made an offer but it's impossible to top that ridiculous one from Buffalo.

We dodged a bullet there, Murray should stay away from free agency.

I think that more and more these days. I kind of feel the same way about trades right now, unless it's a player that is as close to can't miss as possible.

Wow, just as I say that, I read this:

@darenmillard:

Doing the oilers/predators game @RealKyper told by an nhl exec that ducks r shopping bobby ryan. Wow. 2 wins in 18.

Now that's a guy to go out and get.

What would they want for him? We'd start at our FRP and a major piece. They'd ask for EK, we'd tell them where to go. I can't imagine that we'd want to give up 9MM, since he's proving that he can be a major contributor. Rundblad maybe? I really don't know what we have that would make sense.

I would be careful of Ryan. Like a lot of other guys he has proven very little in the NHL. I wouldn't give up the farm to get that guy, that's for sure.

Who would have guessed Souray would turn out to be a good pickup? I mean I thought he was headed down the Wade Redden path of obscurity personally.

Souray could always play, buuuuut like Horcoff a couple of years ago Edmonton was a mess. People act like players who have ONE off year are all of the sudden awful. It's kind of sad really.

He's a proven goal-scorer and power forward. and he's young.

I've always liked Horcoff and think he's a great leader.

He started attracting some negative attention after he signed his $5.5M/year contract. The amount of money he makes is not his fault.

And really, he did only have one bad year when he put up 36 pts. Last year he had injury problems.

Agreed. He's proven that he can score 30+ consistently. What more could you really ask for from someone at his age?

Again, there is a reason they are stying to move a 24 year old, 30 goal scorer. He might not have the baggage a lot of guys have but there is still a reason. Also, there have been better players that have produced in bigger ways than Ryan that have come crashing back down to earth as well.

Ryan isn't the be all and end all in terms of top end forwards. I still like a guy like Brassard would be a way better fit than Ryan. Not saying Ryan isn't the better player but in terms of what the team needs...

Getzlaf and Perry have accomplished far more than Ryan. If they are trying to shake up the team, Ryan would give the most return.

Also thought of that last night. There's literally no reason for them to be trading a 24 year old, 100+ goal scorer unless there was major motivational/effort issues. Should be huge red flags that these rumours even exist frankly.

Well he is the son of a convict. Bobby Stevenson is his real name.

It's becoming increasingly obvious that you didn't bother watching the Oilers the last two seasons - and don't say you did, because honestly anyone who saw even half their games wouldn't be commenting on Horcoff's play in those seasons. I remember posting on this board - although I can't find it, that Horcoff looked like a slower, less offensively gifted, defensively challenged version of Mike Fisher. Does that sound appealing?

It does if he's strikingly handsome and good in the community.

Considering HOrcoff only played 47 games last year... the year before he was awful, no doubt. Everything before that, well Mike Fisher's best year was basically Horcoff's worst. Either way, Saying he was awful for the last 2 or 3 season's simply isn't true. He had one awful year, along with SOuray, along with that whole team.

Easy to look bad on an awful team and a poorly run franchise. Souray wasn't even in Edmonton last year so how people could say he was washed up is beyond me. The guy didn't want to be in Edmonton, made it known, got shipped out and was never heard from again. He's back and tearing it up like he usually does.

In Montreal, when Souray had a clear shot at the net on the PP, it was basically an automatic goal.
