POLL: NHL's Worst Contract - Number 1

Silly season is close again and some unlucky franchise is going to pay a guy like....say Thomas Plekanec 5 million a year X 6 years with a full NTC....

For the moment, we have these beauties to enjoy:

Jason Blake - 4mil until 2012 --- 41 pts 82 games

Brian Campbell - 7.14+mil until 2016 --- 38 pts 68 games

Cristoball Huet - 5.625mil until 2012 --- 5.625mil until 2013 (backup)

Shawn Horcoff - 5.5mil until 2015 --- 36 pts in 76 games

Rostislav Olesz - 3.125mil until 2014 --- 29 pts in 78 games

Scott Gomez - 7.35+mil until 2014 --- 59 pts in 73 games

Brian Rolston 5.0625mil until 2012 (35+) --- 37 pts in 80 games

Chris Drury 7.05mil until 2012 --- 32 pts in 77 games

Wade Redden 6.5 until 2014 --- 14 pts in 75 games

Rick DiPietro 4.5mil until 2021 --- has only played 12 games in the past 2 seasons

Jeff Finger 3.5 until 2012 --- a 7th defenceman on the 29th place team

Redden, hands down. Dipietro is a close 2nd, but at least his cap hit is lower and he's still young and, you know, not a druggie

Huet looks the worst to me right now...Redden is just sad.

Finger and Redden smell of mentally challenged GMs.

3 of those can be attributed to Mr. Sather I believe

yeah this is seriously a great poll. and its pretty tough. Dipietro at least can go on LTIR and so his cap is off the books. Redden, I agree, is just sad.

I think Khabibulin should be in that list too. He's long term, AND at an age of 35+. Also, he gets arrested

I voted Redden. I'd say most of those guys at least had a good season prior to signing those deals. Redden played awful and still got rewarded for it.

Jason Blake - 40 goals

Brian Campbell - high demand for OFD, excellent mobile puck mover

Cristoball Huet - #1 in MTL played pretty well "Huet Dit Non"

Shawn Horcoff - NHL all-star

Rostislav Olesz - young with potential

Scott Gomez - stanley cup championships, played on NJD dynasty

Brian Rolston - stanley cup championships

Chris Drury - cup ring, played on a stacked Sabres team

Rick DiPietro - young, played well before injuries ruined his career

Jeff Finger - not a horrible shutdown player

That one looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong term IR Dipietro would have to be on.

A lot of stinkers in that list. I voted for Horcoff, big money, big term, low production. Not enough reasons?

He can't even be sent to the minors until 2013-14 because of a NMC.
