That's a good point 22-4-ever. Solicitors and telemarketers are the absolute worst folks who can't take a hint. And then they keep trying their luck. Don't take my kindness as a weakness

Wow I'm surprised we got to 50.

Hockey makes us ... discourteous.

Maybe it has something to do with all the politicians in this town.

Uhm... what? Only thing I can think of that makes Ottawa discourteous is that we have more Toronto fans and Montreal fans than Ottawa fans, so we are comprised of the two, IMO, worst offenders in the group.

I think every city has "those fans". Having only been to NHL game(s) in Buffalo and Ottawa, I can say that I have never disrespected a fan of another team IN Ottawa, but have been the target of venom in Buffalo, for being Canadian. Which we all know the irony in that Canadians compose the majority of their team and their captain was (at the time Craig Rivet) Canadian. Plus if it were not for Canadians (for NHL and NFL) their sales would not be as high as they are. Pretty sure home ice means nothing when Toronto plays in Buffalo.

Generally speaking, people in Ottawa aren't as polite as in other bigger Canadian cities. I've seen this myself.

I have experienced both Ottawa (for 24 years or so) and Brampton (and the GTA for the most part) for 3 years, and I disagree that Ottawa is less courteous.

I found the drivers in Brampton (which also has the highest insurance rates IIRC) way more rude and aggressive.

I can add another rant..... finding a family doctor in this country

Weird/true story. We had a family doctor in the Signature center. We lived in Heritage Hills so we could literally walk to there. He moved to Stittsville but try finding a family doctor who'll take on a family of 6.

Recently I drove my father-in-law to his doctor when he had a bad leg infection. He lives in Stittsville and his doctor is in the new mall in Morgan's Grant (Sobeys). I live in Morgan's Grant.

Not to be morose or gruesome, but I wonder if people will start turning to the obituaries to find a doctor.

Bicyclists who bike on the road, but don't obey the rules.

I just turned onto my road which is a hidden 45 degree right turn, so you don't really need to slow down to a stop to make the turn; and it's a one way street. What do I find, but two bicyclists driving down the middle of a one way street, going the wrong way, coming right towards me. I wasn't going very fast at all, and managed to get out of the way. That pisses me off.

Oh man I hate cyclists.

Well I'm not ... I came over in '84.

My previous doctor retired not long ago. Doesn't really matter .. everyone seems to be "full" (aka not taking patients).

I was making a joke reference to McGinty's tax rebate of $10,000 for hiring recent immigrants. Oh, man, is it election time again? I'd like to fire the lot of them. Liberals, Conservatives, city councilors -- mostly city councilors. Put running the city, province out to tender.

As an occasional cyclist, I had bad/inconsiderate drivers even more. 'Cause you know, my errors as a cyclist cause you minor inconveniences, whereas your errors as a driver cost me bodily harm.

Plus, drivers hate cyclists on the road, and pedestrians hate cyclists on the sidewalk. If you're lucky enough to have a dedicated bike lane, the driving world goes insane when they get made (as on Laurier) because it's 'their' space. You can't win. Drivers do stupid Dung around cyclists that they would never do around other motorists. And that's stupid and irresponsible.

You should need a lisence and have to pass tests and pay the same fees as other "vehciles" of the road. Too many stupid people to be riding bikes.

Why are bikes exempt from having to know the law?
