I'm calling Vokoun for the Vez this year. I was just looking at his stats. In 632 NHL games with the Preds and the Panthers, he's 262-267-35-41 with a career .917 SV%. Imagine what his splits'll look like after a season playing in front of a team that's built to score goals. He's gonna be lights out. Barring another "Tim Thomas 2010-11" performance from someone like--oh, I don't know--Tim Thomas, he's gonna walk away with the hardware next off-season.

Book it.

Anyone else have a bold claim about the next award winners? Let's hear it. Cheering

90% of the predictions in this thread will not come to pass.
At least 50% of them, upon review at the end of the season, will result in their predictors posting this in reply: Facepalm
Less than 10% will go down in Montagoose-Sighting Society lore like my classic "Bongo"

Book it!

Rundblad for the Calder. Smile

He probably has the best shot at an award, from an Ottawa perspective. Maybe Zibby if he somehow lands that 2nd line C spot and catches fire.

For the record, Dobber has Rundblad picked as his favourite for the Calder, too, although he is very aware of how difficult it is for a defenseman to do so.

Probably easier for an offensive d-man than a defensive one to be picked for Calder.

No doubt. But for that same reason, it's easier for a forward to be picked for the Calder. Runblad would need a 40+ point year to get a sniff. That's a tall order.

Absolutely. Who else threatens for the Calder this year? RNH? Landeskog? My money would likely be on Landeskog.

A team other than the Sharks wins the Cup. Wink

They play the Caps in the final (led by Vokoun's Vezina award-winning season). Nod

Funny. A friend, earlier today, was asking what I thought of Gonchar this season (for a hockey pool) and I said, despite all the potential issues the Sens will have scoring, I still expect him to get 40-45 points.

While an improvement, it's still much lower than I thought he'd be getting with us.
