Sorry SD, I agree with Neely. We've got Rundblad

Rundblad's done nothing yet. How can ppl say 'oh we got enough depth so we can trade karlsson' and then make the same argument that karlsson hasn't proven anything so its okay to trade him? IMO you trade the others before you trade a key roster player

If the question was "Would you trade Karlsson for Parisee or Rundblad?" then I'd say Rundblad, because we already know Karlsson. However knowing Karlsson, I'd rather have Parisee because, even if RUndblad doesn't turn out as good as Karlsson may, that's a deal you make straight up, anyway. Having Rundblad as a fall-back for a PMD is bonus.

I'd rather the Sens take their time doing what they are doing now, and not give away assets for other teams players.

Colorado just traded a 1st and 2nd for Varlamov and you crapped all over it, and yet you basically want the Sens to do the same thing?

The whole point of taking the BPA is because you can always trade for (hopefully) equal impact at a different position. That's what we did with Rundblad -- we had Karlsson and Wiercioch in the system and needed scoring, but Rundblad was available, and better than any forward we could take. So now, if we were in a position to get Parisee for Karlsson that trades pays off.

If they ever trade Karlsson it'll be to a Western Conference Team.

The Sens should take their time rebuilding, and guess what, they are. Good thing they don't listen to their fans. The Oilers aren't going out and signing or trading for Parise. By your logic, shouldn't they trade RNH or Hall for Parise? Afterall, he is a proven scorer.

I think we need to see what we have in Rundblad before we consider this kind of move - and I mean what we really have as an NHL player, and not just good reviews from a development camp and good stats in Sweden.

I'm a little more leery about moving Karlsson and a pick (especially a first). Again, it depends how far along this rebuild really is.

I'm stoked about some of our draft picks - but I don't know if I'm ready to declare the cupboard restocked just yet.

So The Oilers wouldn't trade RNH for Weber? I'll call you out on that for sure.

How is that calling me out? I give credit to the Oilers for drafting players and holding onto them and that translates to me saying they wouldn't trade Nugent-Hopkins for Shea Weber?

Would the Oilers do that trade? Not for me to say. Would Nashville trade Weber? Not for me to say. My guesses are as good as yours when it comes to these things, doesn't make you or I better or more knowledgeable than the other.

I recall a few trades where a young "unproven player" was dealt for an older "proven one" and they haven't turned out that great.

Brooks Laich for Peter Bondra? Yashin for some kid Chara and a 1st rnd pick?

Just a few examples, but you get the idea. I'm quite happy as a fan seeing the team I support maintain its course and let the young kids make this their team. No need for hypothetical s and rhetoric to try and prove anything.

I absolutely agree that The Sens and Oilers alike should follow the course of action they have set out, never said otherwise.

The question is would you trade a potential franchise player for a legit franchise player who plays a position that the organization desperatly needs? No brainer. If it was for Shea Weber I would say "why would you trade for a franchise D man when The Sens have what seems like 50 coming down the pipeline?". Parise though, quicker than you can imagine.

Wait what? Weber easily > Karlsson.

I'd 100 percent trade for Parise. Problem is I don't think we have the pieces. Alfredsson, Spezza, Zibanejad, Butler, Rundblad, Karlsson, Cowen, and Lehner are untouchables. Who else on our team would NJ want? Foligno? Lee? I don't think so...

I agree with the above. Stay the course, be competitive, and let our guys battle it out for a year or two. Seems like we have a ton of prospects with very high potential whether it's Stone, Grant, Blood, Filatov, Da Costa, Noeson, Puempel, Prince, Wiercioch, Silfverberg, Pederson, Caporusso, Condra, Borowiecki, etc. I truly think we'll be back in the playoffs in two years, and a legitimate force to be reckoned with in 3-5.

Not sure I'd put Butler as 'untouchable.'

For everyone saying they would trade Karlsson because we have Rundblad in the system need to give their head a bit of a shake, imo. This guy has yet to play a professional game in North America so we have no way of knowing what we really have on our hands until we see that. We have quite possibly the best offensive defenceman in the entire NHL (in 2 years) and people are willing to throw him into a deal for a winger (the least important position in the hierarchy).

As talented as Parise is I can barely get on board with straight up (and obviously NJ would never do that) so adding something significant on our end would be an awful decision imo.

Wow, I can't believe anyone wouldn't move Karlsson for Parise (assuming contract extension). Parise is a ridiculous talent who has a non-stop motor.

I think his motor stopped for 68 games this season.

I'm definitely not saying Rundblad would immediately replace Karlsson, but if you could get a Parise, you do the deal and figure out how to deal with the hole on D later on.

There you go... NJ should trade Parise to PIT' for Malkin... Malkin + Kovalchuk & Crosby (if he isn't dead) + Neal + Parise = win win.

Not how winners are built. You build from the backend out and worry about 30 goal scorers later on.
