WOuld you trade Malkin for Karlsson? Yes. It's the exact same question only I think PArise is a better player than Malkin.

It's not the exact same question though. Because Malkin is:

A) Younger
B) Better
C) A center (much more important position)
D) Locked into a deal, no contract worries

Parise is more consistent, it's about the only thing I can give him.

Parise is a more natural goal scorer (which The Sens actually need), he plays the wing (which The Sens need in a bad way), he's a much more complete player, he gives a consistant effort every night.

Saying he's "older" is like saying Karlsson is older than Rundblad. If I was building a cup contending team I would take Parise before Malkin for sure.

Either I don't see the hype around Parise or Malkin is being underrated. I don't think it's all that close between the 2 to be honest.

I have to disagree with neely. we have yet to see what karlsson can do. he might beat the records Mike green set recently once we get a good team rolling. this IS a franchise PMD. not the kind that's available on july 1st. just like lidstrom this one will be resigned from now until eternity before he hits the FA market. would you trade weber for Parise? not the same kind of player but as important to their respective team. Runblad might be expendable but not karlsson. mark My (half in the tank, drinking) Words!

Yeah Malkin is more dynamic, that's for sure. Not as good of a skater though.

I have things I prefer in players. Malkin, while as tallented as they come isn't a guy that I think can carry a team when it counts. Parise I see that in.

I wouldn't do it unless Parise was signed for a few years at least, but he is an elite winger that is very hard to come by

His Conn Smythe says differently.

I wouldn't paint him with the "talented but not clutch" Russian brush.

The guy has Crosby there, he wasn't carrying that team just as Zetterberg didn't carry The Wings the year before. I'm not saying he isn't a guy that can't compete or produce in the clutch, I just don't think he can carry the load of a team on his back.

Parise is basically Alfie 2.0, or Alfie in his prime. A small guy who gives 'er 110% all the time, isn't afraid to get into the corners, a smooth passer, and a strong goal scorer. He's definitely a top-10 winger talent-wise in the NHL right now, no questions.

In this business, you always take the sure thing over potential. If we could get Parise for Karlsson, you'd pretty much have to do it, provided he's fully recovered from that injury and you get him on a long-term deal.

In his defence, he did carry the Penguins when Crosby got injured that year. He was lights out...something like 2.0 PPG.

Like I said, that's more clutch than anything else, IMO. Carrying a team like Alfi, Crosby, Iginla, that's the kind of guy Parise is in my view.

Rundblad's done nothing yet. How can ppl say 'oh we got enough depth so we can trade karlsson' and then make the same argument that karlsson hasn't proven anything so its okay to trade him? IMO you trade the others before you trade a key roster player

Yeah this is f'd up. Why bother even drafting players if all you want to do is trade/sign to build a team?

I'd rather the Sens take their time doing what they are doing now, and not give away assets for other teams players.

Colorado just traded a 1st and 2nd for Varlamov and you crapped all over it, and yet you basically want the Sens to do the same thing?

If the question was "Would you trade Karlsson for Parisee or Rundblad?" then I'd say Rundblad, because we already know Karlsson. However knowing Karlsson, I'd rather have Parisee because, even if RUndblad doesn't turn out as good as Karlsson may, that's a deal you make straight up, anyway. Having Rundblad as a fall-back for a PMD is bonus.

The whole point of taking the BPA is because you can always trade for (hopefully) equal impact at a different position. That's what we did with Rundblad -- we had Karlsson and Wiercioch in the system and needed scoring, but Rundblad was available, and better than any forward we could take. So now, if we were in a position to get Parisee for Karlsson that trades pays off.

If they ever trade Karlsson it'll be to a Western Conference Team.
