I think there's a few guys the team would like to move, but Murray seems convinced he can get value for them - if not now, then at the deadline.

Worse comes to worse, we have some players who are good enough to be in the NHL playing in the AHL. There are worse positions to be in.

He's failing to consider moves. We've been saying for quite a while that at least one forward and hopefully one defenseman will be moved (the forward possibly sweetening the pot to get the defenseman on a plane ticket out). Also, Regin may have a 1-way but he's under 25 with one year left, and he'll be very cheap to buy out.

No he's not, he's just not guessing at any moves...

"The point being, it's a pretty good bet Bryan Murray will be looking to shed at least a couple of one way contracts through trade prior to training camp, or at the latest, prior to the start of the season."

I don't know why we would consider buying out Regin.

Even if he's not a top 6 centre, he's a pretty decent defensive player who would look fine at 3C and isn't expensive. I'm not the best judge of hockey talent, but that's how it seems to me. Buying him out saves you very little other than a roster spot - and I think he'd be picked up on waivers before you got that far anyways.

Regin won't be bought out, that would be insanely stupid. If he gets beat out for a job by an 18 year old that The Sens have great expecations for, he may be wiaved.

Murray claims he's not shopping anyone so I dunno.

I still think the obviously move is Kuba OR Carkner + Foligno OR Regin, with a top 6er coming back our way (probably someone who makes a bit too much money and who needs a fresh start). I've thought that from the moment we signed Konopka.

How does signing Konopka lead to trading a D and a F for a top-six? Obviously missing something, there.

I was being serious. You said you'd been thinking along those lines ever since the Konopka signing. I've been thinking along those lines since well before the Konopka signing, so I completely agree with that sentiment; however I don't understand how the Konopka signing could trigger it.

Regin has some value. I'm sure if he was shopped we'd get something back in return. Besides I still have high hopes for him and not only could he fall into the 2C position but If we're going for 3 offensive lines he'd be great on the 3rd. he can also be a great winger. we'll part ways with Winnie before Regin if we have to make space. seriously I can't believe what I'm reading. this is a kid that blew everyone away 2 years ago. yes he sucked last year but the potential is still there. to give up on him for anything else then to put a package together for a better player/prospect is insane at this point. maybe later in the year we'll get a better ideqa but at this moment all I hear is brain farts.

??? He had a good playoff series, basically 6 games of the season where he was "wow". The rest of his regualr season was solid, nothing special.

I'm somewhere in between - not ready to give up on him, but still fairly convinced the flashes he showed us were exactly that.

Call it muted expectations.

he ended that season really well and yes, he did have a solid playoff season the kind that shows what a player is capable of being. that's what i'm talking about. IMO the kid can be a 20 goal scorer 50 point guy. just has to put the time into playing harder and not expecting the puck to magicaly come to him. play physical is the message for him. the skill he has buttloads of.

fair enough. it could of been flashes. but at least we know he's capable of that level of play. I'd be sad to see him go before another year.

If we waive or trade Regin for nothing, I'm not gonna be pleased. This is all part of a rebuild, the kid had a rough year last year, you give him a chance to earn that spot again before discarding.

It's called training camp. Like I have said probably 500 times, if he has a camp like he did last year, he will be waived. There are way too many prospects and kids looking for a chance. Regin has had 2 years to solidify himself as a top 9 guy... if he can't crack the weakest offense in The NHL, he isn't an NHL player.
