It's called training camp. Like I have said probably 500 times, if he has a camp like he did last year, he will be waived. There are way too many prospects and kids looking for a chance. Regin has had 2 years to solidify himself as a top 9 guy... if he can't crack the weakest offense in The NHL, he isn't an NHL player.
again I think clouston played a part in regin sucking so much the guy didn't have anyone to play off or with for most of the team. some guys can create offense by themselves some can use one or 2 good players around them/ they can't all be spezza. I believe he'll do much better on the second and maybe even on the 3rd as the C this year. foligno could be a good fit with regin. goes to those hard areas to retrieve the puck. I think confidence will be key this year for regin. if he can get on a roll he'll show us a lot more... then again I'm a reganite! hahaNEELY wrote:Regin is not going to develop any further for the most part, he is what he is and that's an unknwon. Last year may have been a fluke or the season before with his playoffs may have been a fluke, I don't know. This year and probably as early as pre-season people will find out what he's about.
Giving players a chance to develop in The NHL over a guy who is basically entering his prime as a hockey player who might not be able to cut it in The NHL, will probably be the way to go.
Regin isn't a kid.

yes. it will be hard to focus on that with mclean coming in as there's going to be so much to evaluate and he and the team will have to adjust to the new system. for some it might come easy for others it might be harder. I have a feeling the whole puck postion aspect my work out good for regin.spader wrote:Flo The Action wrote:again I think clouston played a part in regin sucking so much the guy didn't have anyone to play off or with for most of the team. some guys can create offense by themselves some can use one or 2 good players around them/ they can't all be spezza. That's worth investigating. It's fair to wipe the slate clean and give him a shot to get back to 09/10 form.

Besides I still have high hopes for him and not only could he fall into the 2C position but If we're going for 3 offensive lines he'd be great on the 3rd. he can also be a great winger. we'll part ways with Winnie before Regin if we have to make space. seriously I can't believe what I'm reading. this is a kid that blew everyone away 2 years ago. yes he sucked last year but the potential is still there. to give up on him for anything else then to put a package together for a better player/prospect is insane at this point. maybe later in the year we'll get a better ideqa but at this moment all I hear is brain farts.
??? He had a good playoff series, basically 6 games of the season where he was "wow". The rest of his regualr season was solid, nothing special.

People have weird memories. SpezD is the only one here who was blowing up Regin's tires. He even anointed him as our 2C in his signature. Given that SD is our most prolific poster I think some of that irrational exuberance rubbed off on a few people.
And even in the playoffs, that was a very small sample size and he scored 3 goals in 6 games. Good but hardly lighting it up. If he scored 10 goals in 20 games then I would have been impressed.

I really doubt that very highly. I think a lot of people, probably Neely included, know exactly what they saw from Regin, not only in the NHL, but in the AHL as well. He's barely scratched the surface of his NHL potential, and with the underrated shot he has, the size that people tend to forget and his 'no fear' attitude in corners, I think he's the prototypical new player in this NHL.
The problem for him is he's running out of time here. We have too many prospects that won't be held back, he's got to come out of the gate and make the Sens' brass take notice of him this camp, or he's in for another disappointing season.
SpezDispenser wrote:I didn't think he was awful, he just couldn't score to save his life. Something he'll have to fix very quickly this pre-season.

Had a lot more to do with himself than bad luck. Maybe it was a sophomore slump, maybe it wasn't, we'll see.
