Filatov - Spezza - Michalek

Greening - Winch - Butler
Z. Smith - Konopka - Neil
Condra

Phillips - Lee
Kuba- Karlsson
Cowen - Gonchar
Carkner

Anderson
Auld

I think Condra replaces Winchester to be honest. Condra at least has shown more offensive flare in his game and considering how poor the offense is, they will gladly take winchester out in favor of Condra. In terms of everything else, I can't see it changing at all.

It will be interesting to see who stays in the top 6 after the start of the season... Butler/Foligno seem to be a point of contention for many.

I think there'll be a number of guys rotating through the press box - Condra, Greening, Regin, Winch, Z. Smith will all take turns along with Lee, Carkner, Cowen and I'd also say Rundblad might be in the mix there too.

I can't see them putting those young guys in and out of the pressbox... I see a trade coming.

I think you're right. Winchester has been good in his role, but his lack of offense is hurting his chances. I still think rooneypoo's trade prediction is right.

I think training camp will decide a few things, like which two of Butler, Foligno, Regin play top-six. You could also add Zibanejad into that mix. Longer-term, Zibanejad will be a top-six player, so that could play a role in deciding who gets the ice time. The jury is still out on Foligno and Regin, but both had a few years now to prove themselves, and haven't. Butler is about the same place where Foligno was 2 years ago, but Foligno is (arguably) playing below expectations and salary. If Butler continues to progress from where he left off last year I can see him passing Foligno and Regin on the depth chart, so you *could* have Butler and Zibanejad filling out the top-six, with Butler and Foligno now fighting for ice time with Greening, Smith, Condra. Given the salary disparity, that would not be a fair fight.

Because we are in a rebuild, I don't think Foligno and Regin are safe.

Foligno and Regin are certainly going to be fighting for their lives this season... the new kids want to have a crack...

As it should be; F&R have yet to emerge ... otherwise, they're likely to get submerged ...

For sure, it's serious stuff for Regin probably more than Foligno, but they're both prime candidates to lose their spots.

Regin had a worse year and then that shoulder surgery, which means reduced off-season workouts. Wouldn't want to be in his shoes -- skates -- right now. He'll need to do 2 months of rehab and a month of training all in about a 2-month timeframe. He'd better show upa t camp with Wile E. Coyote legs (on ACME Triple-Strength Fortified Leg Muscle Vitamins), because that's about the only part he can get a head start on.

I still think there is a serious possibility Foligno gets traded with a prospect for a top 6 forward... Penner basically.

Butler will be starting on the top-6, no doubt.

I think Zibanejad has to sign by this Friday (July 15) or he's going back to the SEL for sure. We'll have a better sense as to whether or not he's going to make a run for the team in a few short days.

That's basically the same thought I had after the Konopka signing. Folingo/Regin + Kuba for an overpaid top 6er / top 6er in need of a change of scenery. We'll see soon enough, I guess.

Also, LA created a hole on the 3rd line when they traded Simmons. Yah, they plugged a majot hole in the top 6 that Penner was supposed to fill, but it didn't work out.

All personal feelings aside, a move like Foligno + a prospect for Penner makes a ton of sense from both parties. Could Wiercoich be a guy Ottawa parts with? Maybe.

No room for him to mess around when he's cleared for off-ice work outs, that's for sure...
