F:
Michalek-Spezza-Butler
Filatov-Regin/Foligno*-Alfie
Regin/Foligno*-Smith-Neil
Greening-Winchester-Condra*
Extra: call-ups*

D:
Phillips-Lee
Cowen-Gonchar
Kuba*-Karlsson
Extra: Carkner

G:
Anderson
Auld

Zibanejad may make the team; he would push Condra out. DaCosta, I don't see making it, nor will any forward rookie for that matter; anyone who does would have to displace Condra first. Rookies like Daugavins, Wick, and O'Brien will see frequent call-ups due to injury and/or other players' poor performance. If Kuba is indeed traded and a forward added, Rundblad makes it and Regin and Foligno both get shuffled down, knocking Condra back to Bingo. Unless Regin has a brutal camp, then he's gone altogether.

I put zero stock in anything BooBoo says, btw. How the hell would he know that line #1 is going to be Michalek-Spezza-Alfie? I'll bet anything that Maclean doesn't even have something like that even close to settled already.
now we're getting closer. I know Lee worked ok with Phillips last year but call me scarred i expect him to regress a little this year.
michalek and filatov could switch between the top 2 lines all year. depending on who's hot. I hope Butler can stick on the 1st cuz Alfie needs the rest. at least a little.

I disagree with the "yuck" comment about Daugavins. We're talking about a friggin' fourth line for crying out loud. We used to have Grats playing there for less than 2 minutes a game, so surely we could stomach someone like Daugavins (who has skill and determination). That comment was completely uncalled for.

I only put Greening up there because, as much as I'd like Zibanejad to be the 2nd line center, he is likely going to need help. Greening is not meant to be there for more than a dozen games over the duration of the season. It could be Regin as well, I suppose, I just lost confidence in him as a legit 2nd line center. Better suited (IMO) to wing.

Lastly, Filatov on the top line doesn't make a lot of sense because he sees himself as pass-first kind of guy, as does Spezza.

Filatov is a goal-scorer...he's just saying he's pass first to make himself look good to the public.

Daugavins isn't even signed yet nor is he an NHL player in my mind.

In addition to the 12 forwards listed on my depth chart, I also have Zibanejad and DaCosta as more likely to make the team ahead of Daugavins. I definitely don't see Daug making this team, not unless he's improved dramatically in 2 months or so.

Daugavins? He's improved all right, he had 20 points in 23 games in Bingo's post-season run. Added (more) of an element of grit, is a shootout specialist and a great penalty killer to boot. If he adds some more core muscle, I simply don't see why he can't play a role on the 4th line and be moved up and down the lineup based on injuries. I like him a lot, I think he *might* have a chance in the future.

I look at the team's needs, and the guys ahead of him, and I just don't see it happening this year. He's, like, 14 or 15 on our forward depth chart, at best. No way he's ahead of Condra, for instance.

That's my point too. At best the guy is #13 on our depth chart, but in my pinion he's probably closer to 15 or 16. That and the fact I still think we're adding a forward, and it limits his chances of making the team.

Really like the signing, a lot. Perfect guy to have on a rebuilding team. Also, he is surprisingly good in the circle as a number 4 center.

Gotcha.

Perfect 12, 13 guy that can come in and out of the lineup as need be, fills a role, knows his role, and is well liked. In games vs The Leafs, Bruins, so on The Sens may get beat on the score board but no way to they go down without making a ton of noise.

Why does someone have to be out? Injuries happen, players slack, certain teams call for certain players, so on.

Also, at the deadline he might be a good player to unload for an extra pick.

Laugh1 There goes Daugavins shot at the NHL right out the window.

Nice signing, like it a lot. Cheap too. Thumbs up.

Does this mean Smitty is automatically gonna be given the 3rd line spot now? I think they wanna develop him as a center and obviously he won't be taking that 4th line spot with Konopka in the mix.

I think that's the most interesting part of this transaction.
