That's basically the same thought I had after the Konopka signing. Folingo/Regin + Kuba for an overpaid top 6er / top 6er in need of a change of scenery. We'll see soon enough, I guess.

Also, LA created a hole on the 3rd line when they traded Simmons. Yah, they plugged a majot hole in the top 6 that Penner was supposed to fill, but it didn't work out.

All personal feelings aside, a move like Foligno + a prospect for Penner makes a ton of sense from both parties. Could Wiercoich be a guy Ottawa parts with? Maybe.

LA would give you Penner straight up for Foligno - in fact, if I'm Bryan Murray, I play chicken with them to see if they'll blink first and add in something else, not the other way around. At this point, that's 4.2 million tied up in a player they don't want anymore and have basically come out and said as much.

Besides, where are you putting him?

Filatov - Spezza - Butler
Michalek - __________ - Alfredsson

If anything, we need a 2C, not a LW, right?

You're seriously going to imply Filatov is a player that should be a kog on the top line?

Filatov will need the same treatment as Butler. Give him top 6 mins or send him to bingo

Obviously, yeah. This is our top six acquisition for the wing, end of story. I guess we could put Fat Penner in there somewhere and drop Alfie down, or Butler, but not Filatov until he's been given a LONG look in the top 6.

You never know though, with the amount of injuries that take place (alfie, michalek are shoe-ins for this), it really doesn't hurt to get Plump Penner and plant Filatov on the 3rd for the time being...or bingo. But he's paid his dues already

He is going to get every chance to play in the top 6, saying he's for sure going to be playing beside Spezza is far from a connclussion.

People act like players don't move up and down the lineup. The only guy who won't move is Spezza... #1 center, set in stone. Everything else is up the air, probably for the next few years.
