Peverley puts the B's up 1-0... Van's D is coughing the puck up a lot...

Boston leads 1-0 after 1.

Shots are 12-6 for Vancouver.

Thomas has come to play, eh?

This series seemed out of reach for Boston just a couple of games ago. What's happening, Van?

They are not dominating, not really. The Canucks are being out-goaltended right now. I didn't see the first goal, but Ryder's shot from way out has to stay out. The third one, well, the defenseman was trying to sell a trip and ended up out of position.

Schneider in, Luongo out.
4-0

EDIT: 12 goals against Luongo in 2 games. Anyone taking bets on Van's starter for game 5? I'm thinking Schneider gets a shot if he shuts the door for the rest of this game.

This isn't Luongo's fault, that's for sure.

Did he stop every puck that was stoppable? Did he make the spectacular saves that keep his team in the game and give them forward momentum? Thomas did. The loss may not be Luongo's fault, but he didn't play like it was game 7. 12 goals in 2 games. He's not exactly stealing games right now. This isn't the time to be hot and cold.

How about the Canucks don't let a guy go in on a breakway, don't get a stick in the way of a shot, and don't fall behind the net and fail to cover Marchand who was right in front? They are playing like Dung.

Absolutely agree. The Canucks played a crappy game, but that's when the goalie needs to provide a spark. I'm not suggesting that he was at fault, but he didn't steal the game that the team needed him to steal.

Tough to blame the goaltender when the offence has put up 1 goal in 2 games (a meaningless goal at that). Luongo hasn't been great the past 2 games but Vancouver's offence needs to step up.

Here's my early prediction for game 5, Tanev in and Ballard out.

Again, I'm not suggesting that he's to blame, but he didn't have a very good game. The Peverley goal was flukey, but he needed to make that play. The Ryder goal was a laser-beam, but he should have been in better position. Games 1 and 2 were duels. He was cold for 3 and 4. Sure, the team needed to score, but when the team absolutely needed him to steal a game, he came up empty.

I know what you're saying, but that could be flipped too. You could argue that the team as a whole (moreso the forwards) let Luongo down when he needed them most.

I'm not even a goalie apologist I just think the whole team has been bad, and based on past play everyone needs to be better.

Agreed. I think it's not a matter of "either/or", but rather a matter of "both/and." That is to say, this loss was both the fault of the goalie and the five in front of him. Neither performed.

Exactly. I fully expect everyone to step up back on home ice, but there's no question that Luongo is gonna face more pressure than the rest of the team.
