Yeah, it's silly now. Julien gave Lucic Dung for that in a big way apparently. I wouldn't be surprised if he told Rechi to smarten up too.

Rome'll likely be done for the playoffs too...Although Horton is definitely the bigger loss in this equation. Game 4 should be interesting...will Boston keep up their momentum, or come crashing back to earth?

People shouldn't be surprised, this was a predatory hit - really exactly what we want out of the game. He got the rest of the year, that's perfect IMO.

It may go into next season if it does not go 7 games...

I’m not sure why 4 games is considered harsh or shocking. Look at the hit. It was really late, and was likely intended to injure Horton (it wasn’t intended to separate him from the puck…the puck was long gone). Anyway, 4 games is pretty light, especially considering that Rome was pretty much a role-player…and easily replaced.

Now if it’s Kesler or Burrows or a Sedin that delivers that hit…no way the suspension is four games.

It's not like he's payed in the playoffs so it isn't that harsh.

I think it's a surprise based on the history of the NHL's disciplinary action. In these playoffs, Chara almost decapitates Pacioretty. He got a 5-min major interference call and tossed from the game, much like Rome was. Suspended for 0 games.

Go back to 2007... SCF... Pronger on Deano... elbow to the head... 1 game...

Do you think it's a possibility that the taunting by that punk Lapierre in game 2 -- had something to do with firing up the Bruins to demolish the Canucks the way they did?
I know the Horton hit contributed to that... but I think the Lapierre incident got to them as well.

The hit certainly woke up the beast... I thought after Van killed off the 5-min PP that they would lose momentum... but they didn't. The Lapierre taunting may have contributed... Recchi did the same thing back later in the game... there's clearly a real hate on now between these two teams... so getcha popcorn ready... it's gonna get CRAZY.

That Chara hit was in the regular season, I believe. Also, the Chara hit was under different circumstances, because of the involvement of the stanchion.

As for Pronger on McAmmond…well, see my comment on replacing Rome with Kesler/Burrows/Sedin/*insert star player here*. There is definitely a sliding scale of punishment based on the star-level of the perpetrator.
