He's literally 10 times the playmaker + he scores the same amount of goals.

Uh...we'll see about that shall we? I'd rather pay him 4.2 and have him come close to 20 goals than pay 7.5 for Dynamic Dany Heatley and his bionic knee, lung and eye (not to mention his attitude which can suck my Donkey).

EDIT: Let's put it this way, I'll take my chances of Glass Michalek a thousand times before I take my chances on a used up goal-scorer making 7.5 million.

Disappointment? Go and see what Sharks' fans have to say about Heatley!

That's a really dumb comparison for many reasons.

Ok? I'd kill to have Spezza and heatley back together again. Don't care if he isn't a complete player or not, he had a down year but so did Joe.

Spezza-Heatley >>>>>>>>>> Spezza-Butler

This is all hyopthetical of course, LMAO.

At least he plays every game. Michalek is no use in the press box. Leclaire 2.0 potentially! Naw he's not that bad, but for us he has been glass. Not for SJ though.

Michalek's not even that good defensively anymore...and he has lost his speed.

3.3 million is not that much more either.

Don't defend that trade just because we got cap space.

Let's just wait and be patient for another goal scorer to come around. Even if Heatley was offered to us for Michalek straight up I wouldn't even consider it - even if he wasn't a Cussing arsehole. There are warning signs IMO and when a guy declines over the course of 3 years (more actually) as badly as Heatley did, there are red flags the size of Texas - as in: you don't touch him. He could bounce back and score 93 goals next year, or he could continue to be a mediocre goal-scorer - either way, I MUCH prefer our lineup with guys who want to be here over an overrated tool like Heatley who obviously depended on Spezza to dish him goals.

Michalek is a train wreck, I agree, but...all we can do is hope now that he remains healthy - because I saw at the end of the year that he still has speed and still has game. And he's a real leader, not some guy you slap an A on just to make happy like the Diminished One.

Diddle Heatley (IMO).

I meant a Heatley who would want to be here lol. He wouldn't accept a trade to Ottawa.

Teams have learned not to leave Heatley in the slot with his stick in the air.

I would not touch him with a 10-foot pool. I want players with character on the Sens -- he has none.

I like Michalek. I don't see him as slow. It took him over 6 mos to recover from last off-season's knee surgery.. but towards the end of the year he was skating very well. He is good on the PK -- why else would the Sens be about 96% on the PK since early Feb.. when the penalty killers were Michalek & Spezza -- and rookies. That's an incredible stat actually... but I'm sure Anderson contributed a lot to that as well.

I was impressed. I would have thought Spezza would look out of place on the PK, but he was noticeably effective. His game has improved so much recently. Now if he can just start the season the way he finishes them and play 82 games. If he's healthy all season and consistent, he'll score 90-100 points.

I'll take a goal-scorer for sure, just not a washed up, old (his body is way older than he actually is), snot-nosed, Cussing punk.

That's the trick, right there. The problem with Heatley is that he so self-involved. If he isn't the center of attention, he wants to leave. I'm thinking of his end-of-season comments in his last year as a Sen when he basically said that the team may have had a bad year, but that he was happy about his own performance (and, you got the impression, that's what matters).

He'll never be a team-first player. For that reason alone, I'd pass.

I still don't that's the reason he wanted out of Ottawa haha.

I haven't heard a convincing conspiracy theory yet, though I've heard 3 or 4 separate ones, including variations of 2 in particular.
