That's the trick, right there. The problem with Heatley is that he so self-involved. If he isn't the center of attention, he wants to leave. I'm thinking of his end-of-season comments in his last year as a Sen when he basically said that the team may have had a bad year, but that he was happy about his own performance (and, you got the impression, that's what matters).

He'll never be a team-first player. For that reason alone, I'd pass.

I still don't that's the reason he wanted out of Ottawa haha.

I haven't heard a convincing conspiracy theory yet, though I've heard 3 or 4 separate ones, including variations of 2 in particular.

The sex ones are idiotic, I don't believe those.

I don't even know any others. I just believe there is another reason than "dimineshed role". The fact that he never revealed the reason leads to believe that's not the truth.

As far as I can tell, "diminished role" can be read to mean "I'm not getting enough attention or credit, so I'm taking my toys and playing somewhere else." Sounds like him to me.

Sounds like him to me too. I actually heard he slept with someone he definitely shouldn't have and was told to leave, but I've also heard many, many other things. Bottom line: I'm one guy who would NEVER take that suckhole back, although I'd like a goal scorer at some point.

The team missed the playoffs that year and ALL of the top players took heat for it -- which they should have. I assume in Heatley's mind that they were blaming it all on him. He saw, in his mind, no future of winning for this team. So he quit. Even his teammates asked him to change his mind and he refused. So he quit on this team and his teammates.
Real class act that guy Heatley. I don't even watch SJ play as I hate to even see his face.

US television and marketing machine wins again... the only way that changes is if we have 4 Canadian teams in the Conf Finals. Dare to dream...

back in the day, cbc had a little more pull. I remember back in 2003 when the sens were set to meet the devils in the opener on saturday. They initially had it as an afternoon game to broadcast on ABC. and then a few days later changed it to its 7 pm slot on cbc. gone r the good 'ol days

Laugh1 Although, this was the reason PVRs were invented.

Yeah, but try waiting until the evening without having the game ruined for you somehow.

I do love my PVR.
