Like who? Da Costa? The kid who against Philly just skated around doing nothing in the 1st? That's Clouston's fault? Or is it Clouston's fault that the first shift Da Costa had in the Montreal game he came out and threw a hit as hard as he could, bounced off, got back up and skated back into the play... seems like Clouston sat him down, explained what he needs to do, and Da Costa went out and did it. Da Costa saw a ton of ice last night because Clouston didn't give him ice he didn't deserve but he last night, he gave him basically all he could handle because he bought in and he did what was asked of him.

You were crying about Da Costa the other night but he didn't deserve a second more than he got against Philly. How much did he get last nigbt? I'll guess 12-13 mins, I'll go look now.

11:22, I was pretty close.

Point being is Clouston has done pretty close to everything right with the young players and that's what Ottawa has a ton of right now. He's proven he can do that job!

Agreed. DaCosta went from being completely invisible vs. Philly to having more of a presence, albeit obviously out of his element, vs. the Habs. Clouston is managing the situation well with this kid as he has done with Greening, Butler, Condra, Karlsson, etc.

The trap is so pre lockout. Clouston had about as much success with it as Hartsburg did.

But hey we'll see. The team looked uninspired and unmotivated right out of training camp, that still has me concerned he's in over his head. As the year went on the bad goaltending and injuries deflated the team further but we never looked good this year at all until the purge.

We all know the goalies deflated but at the beginning, as rooneypoo has stated before, they weren't the reason why we sucked. Our offense was nowhere to be found. Somebody's got to take the blame for our worst offensive year EVER.

The lack of offense can only be blamed on numerous factors, not just one guy. Clouston can certainly shoulder his share of blame for this abortion of a season, but so can all the other factors that people have listed (goaltending, injuries, some weird uninspired player efforts), etc…. And yes, you can even blame the goaltending for some of the lack of offense. No confidence in your goalie leads you to play differently than you would if you had complete confidence in your netminder.

Anyway, I don’t think anyone is saying that Clouston is perfect, it’s just that we don’t see better options currently available.

ya. We didn't just lose a lot of players to injury, we lost the majority of the offensive heavyweights. Considering that Kovalev kova-loafed, Foligno took his time warming up, and Regin Dung the bed, there wasn't a lot of offense to spread around.

Never could figure out how Clouston couldn't get an effective PP going with Karlsson, Gonchar, Alfie and Spezza on the roster.

That's valid. Both were expected to do more than they were able to do at the time. The Sens didn't have any sort of backup plan. Good point.
