I must admit I had one of those Angus burgers and thought they were quite excellent. I plan to have a combo for lunch since I'll be rockin' the First Choice Hair Cutter's just across the street at lunch. :D

Why we pay for food so much here in Canada is beyond me. You can get 50 Chicken McNuggets for $10 there, we get 10 for that price.

Yep, paying way more here DOES suck. And it's not just the fast food. Go to any decent sit-down restaurant in the US, and you can have a HUGE, good meal for under $10. Go to a restaurant here and you're lucky to get a decent entrée that isn't over $20 including tax.

But then Americans are all fat and stupid. So I guess there's a tradeoff.

I experienced that at a Chinese Food place in Albany. We ordered a dinner for 5 for 4 of us and there was enough for about 10.

Yep. Up here you get, what...normally two sides with a restaurant? Down there, you get four sides with a meal..including my personal favourite "biscuits and gravy." Biscuits and gravy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Oh, and everything's cooked in pounds of butter. Delicious.

Fast food gets government subsidies such that the American public can happily get fatter while paying less than they would for healthy food.

Lobbyists play a major role in why this is the case.

When I watch a US network, the ads pretty much alternate between fast food and pharmaceuticals.

Yeah me and my wife frequently joke around that we'd be about 50 lbs heavier if we lived in the States.

In California I got a steak dinner with soup and salad for $9.99, drink included as well.

I'm slowly getting used to the weekly ritual of going through the foot thick stack of flyers i get every week and planning the weekly meal plan based on what's for sale that week.

I have the same weekly routine, although we generally only do the grocery shopping at one store, depending on who has what on sale. My wife runs a home daycare to, and has to feed two snacks a day plus lunch to five hungry two year olds. Imagine my grocery bill. C'mon, I dare you...imagine!

It's probably more expensive for us to cook our own three course meal than it would be to buy it in a restaurant in the States.

Welcome to the club! Rockon We're lucky to have a good variety of stores around including a "No-Frills".

By the way, we also get stiffed on groceries v. The States. My wife was watching this coupon show and people were walking away with 400.00 orders for about 10 bucks. Never happen here.

Yeah I'm a bit late to the party Laugh1 Used to just shop at 1 store and never really paid enough attention to how much we spend on groceries. I find I need to visit about 2-3 to get everything at a good price. Luckily I got the new Walmart on Baseline near me (I used to drive to Orleans). And I never thought I'd be doing groceries at Canadian Tire Laugh1 Real smart of them to put the food aisle next to the automotive section. Nothing beats picking up milk and eggs while smelling motor oil and tires in the aisles Laugh1

Biggest problem is how quick some of the good deals sell out, gotta be quick.

And the sandwich is 50% off as well, but I think that deal ends today... Crying
Two? Holy crap... did you have an afternoon nap? Did everything seem to slow down after eating it? Heh heh.

Wink

I must try this...

I actually did have a nap. And yesterday, I went and got two MORE for dinner! Delicious! This time I opted for the Mushroom/Swiss and the Deluxe variant. The Mushroom/Swiss Third Pounder was definitely quite mushroomy. Pretty good though! The Deluxe version was also really good…similar to a whopper with mayo, tomatoes, pickles, onions…cheese…yummmm. I'm just very sad that the deal is now over. It cost $6 for two of these burgers with the sale, and it was quite the meal! Anyway, I would say that these are probably the three best burgers at McDonald's right now, but I imagine the combos at regular price will be pretty expensive.

Oddly enough, the Angus Third Pounder Deluxe has 760 calories... I thought it would be more. But, it does have a whopping 41g of fat and 1760mg of sodium.

So that was a massive 82g of fat and 3520mg of sodium in one sitting! Damn...

Yep. It wasn't good. I don't mind eating disgusting food if it's at least delicious, but the double-down failed in this respect. It was just too...salty....and lacked a general flavour of yumminess. That's my professional opinion.

Go with KFC's Spicy Big Crunch...it's WAYYYYYYY better.
