Caps are like LA, they don't really step up for anyone.
It's funny because it's true.

Have the Phil-stakes been narrowed down to certain teams?
I doubt I know any more than you. The only thing I heard that was of interest was CKAC saying it was all but done that Phillips would be moved to Montreal. Which is likely BS, but who knows.
I like that Murray's keeping this going until the last second though.

You're going to be SO disappointed if Phillips isn't traded. LOL. I'm not saying he won't be, but I think (and have long thought) that the odds of us keeping him are higher than those of us trading him. What happened to Kelly changed the playing field a bit, for sure, but regardless, I just don't think it's wise (for your own mental and physical well being, I mean) to go around thinking this is anything like a certainty / inevitability.
Truth is I want Phillips to re-sign. I have no wish to see him leave really - other than he's worth something to our rebuild by leaving, but he's also a pillar back there for us.
I've been saying for anyone who'd listen that a coaching change/change of philosophy can change a lot, and I really believe that as good an Xs and Os coach as Clouston *can* be, he's not getting it done in terms of actually coaching his players.
I would, however, love to hear of Kuba being moved so we can get some youth into our lineup, but even if he isn't, there are always injuries, Rundblad and Cowen will have to wait patiently in the AHL until it happens.
My dream scenario:
Re-sign Phillips to a 3 million X 4 years, trade Kuba for whatever we can get, hopefully get a nice deal on Anderson (3 million or less X 3 tops) and move from there.

I really wonder how things will go. A lot of rumoured destinations for Sens players seem to overlap. I find it hard to believe that one team will be in a position to take more than 1 player. For example, Kuba and Neil both rumoured to go the NYR and Kovalev and Phillips to WSH.
I won't even go so far as to assume that things will abate for now until the actual deadline because I don't doubt there will be more big deals before then.

Ah, OK. I was getting the distinct impression you thought he was gonzo for sure. Sounds like we're pretty much on the same page on this one -- actually, on all of those things. I'd go higher on Anderson if needed, tho', moneywise, not term. Get that Dung done before the end of the season, tho'.

Holy cow.
SpezDispenser wrote:Dung, there goes a small piece of Phillips' market with Rivet being put on waivers. Although, he's been declining pretty steadily.
SpezDispenser wrote:Yeah, I agree. There are teams that have done sweet F all though, Montreal, LA (I wonder if he has the stones to this moment), Chicago, Washington...
Are all of these teams in the East conceding that Philly + Boston will duke it out for the East?

I don't think so to be honest. Rivet has played himself out of a job on a team that isn't exactly stacked on D. He may get picked up, but I doubt it's by a team that would part with assets for Phillips anyway.

kinda reminds me of when I lived near Cornwall : if you put out a dead beat up BBQ out to the curb - guaranteed a beat up pick up truck would scoop it up in the middle of the night....
